Hello all,

New '88 FJ62 owner here with only 114k miles, runs great, needs TLC of course but very proud and will post some photos. I've already had offers to buy it. Never felt so happy to be back in a beast 4x4.

All windows worked from the driver master switch until recently when all of a sudden, the window power went out completely. Figured the master switch was the culprit.

I found a brown trim replacement switch online and connected it. Power window function was restored EXCEPT to the passenger side FRONT, which still didn't operate from the master switch or from the passenger door switch. Very puzzling. Bought another master switch (black trim this time) and connected it. This time, all windows operated from the switch EXCEPT the passenger side REAR, instead of the passenger FRONT. I swapped it back to the brown trim switch and, sure enough, passenger side FRONT window works, but passenger right REAR does not.

Any explanation as to why the wiring is off in these replacement master switches, why one switch swap to another and the inoperable window changes location?? And where can I go to get one where ALL windows will operate properly after installation?

there are 2 versions of the switch panel, IIRC 1988 and 1989-1990
there is a slight variation in the wiring, 1 or 2 wires are in different locations in the plug

there was a write up about being able to swap the wire in the plug to be able to use an early in later or vice versa

@Spook50 maybe knows
