Rebuilding my 3b and have collected pretty much all the parts needed except for rocker arms. Mine have deep divots which I assume is from lack of oil. Anyway, my 3b has a rotary pump and has the late style rocker arm with the 6mm wide adjuster. I’ve called a dozen machine shops and none of them repair rocker arms since it’s a cheap item to buy new…. Does anyone have a machine shop that they know that will repair rocker arms or have any rocker arms that they’d be willing to sell or know if the early style bj40 or 8mm adjuster screw type will work. I have four good early style exhaust rocker arms and was thinking I might have a better chance at getting an early style intake rocker arm -don’t know if that’s true….

i had to go through this too, all exhaust side were mashed, had to get used ones

You can get them fixed at a machine shop unless they are really messed up.

These were mine

lol I wish I could find a machine shop that’ll do it. I’ve called every machine shop that I could find online in a 100 mile radius and everyone of them said that they don’t repair them anymore since rocker arms are cheap to just replace……
I’ve even called a couple of our vendors for leads on machine shops and no dice….

Well if you strike out, you are welcome to ship them to me and I’ll have my machine shop fix them. Just an option

I had the same issue with the rocker arms on my 3B when it was being overhauled ~4 years ago now. The machine shop dressed up the surface on several with confidence, but for several dressing them up would take them out of tolerance.

Regrettably my memory is failing me here. I contacted Dave Stedman at Japan4x4 about to track down replacements. It was clear that they were no longer available from Toyota. He tracked down alternate arms that appeared to be suitable replacements per the drawings from a later production B-family version. That is what we went with. Dave also identified the option for a new production run for the 3B arms. The quantity required seemed reasonably low for a restart, but the cost for the run would be on me. My check book required going with the alternate arm.

If you are so inclined, contacting Dave might help you obtaining the parts that you need. Please accept my apology for not having a better recollection on the details.
