minimal removal of surrounding parts isn't going to happen.
you really need to remove stuff to have access to all of it.
keep intake and exhaust bolted together, remove as a unit
also best to have the manifolds planed true for the new gasket
I use OEM Toyota when doing mine
others use remflex
also check the intake for a crack
Minimum removal of surrounding parts means maximum time and neighbors looking over to see who is doing the maximum cursing.
No shortcuts on this. Procedure is in the 2F FSM. If Int/Exh assy has never been off before, start spraying all the fasteners, including the EGR cooler, J-pipe where it goes into the rear horn, and downpipe fasteners at the bottom of the exh manifold with lots of PB Blaster or equivalent, for a week before you start. Some Youtube videos on the process, IIRC.
You can skip the EGR cooler pipe romoval and lift the assy out with those still attached, is about the only shortcut. You'll still need to remove the two bolts that hold the EGR cooler to the block.
This is assuming you're not de-smogged and have all the above crap attached.
