I just swapped an 86 22r into my 85 and it's sooo close to firing up...
I have a feeling it has something to do with these 2 vacuum lines.

Passenger side of engine bay. I don't even know what this sensor is, couldn't find it in the FSM. has a #1 on the line, about ~12" long

As on pass side, bottom edge of the air box. Had a ~6" line on it, so I know it wasn't the line in the first pic.

Ok, I figured out that the line on the bottom of the air box goes to the second line from the top on the VCV :)
However, I now have another vac line with no home.
It is the line right next/below the circled one in this pic:

I can't even find this sensor anywhere in the factory service manual for my 85 truck. I have stripped the 86 truck that the 22r came from but I don't see that there was ever a sensor like this on that truck.
Does anybody know what this sensor is? It has a little charcoal filter one one side and 2 vac lines on the other side. I need to know where those 2 lines go.
There's a 2-wire plug going into the sensor with a blue and a back/red wire.

Hopefully this truck will be starting today :bounce:

looked again at pics I took before I toook it part and figured out that this sensor ran inline between the vcv and asv. got everything hooked up nw, but still wont start. if I pour gas in carb, it will fire up and run if I keep giving it gas. I'm about to give up for today....

Disclaimer: I know almost nothing about carbs. I haven't touched one in many years.

But, can you see gas in the float bowl chamber in the site glass? Wondering if either the fuel pump is hooked up backwards, or maybe the fuel filter is clogged.

Yeah the fuel level is good. I thought it may be the choke so I put the on on from my 85 carb and no difference. I'll try replacing the 86 carb with my 85 since I know for sure that the truck ran before with that carb. The motor from the 86 truck sat for a while so who knows what could be wrong with the carb.

When I did have the 86 22r running, it sounded great, not even the usual 22r ticking :)
I'm with you, this is my first carb'd vehicle. I would love efi!
