another project that needs to go. 1984 BJ42 imported from NZ, all paperwork is clear, titled and registered for the road, 100% legit. 3B diesel runs strong, 5-speed H55, full floating axles, LSD in rear. stock, unmolested. it is worth noting that this is an oddball aussie unit that came with drum brakes on the front, no roll bars or dash pads and a bench seat in the front. my guess is that it was some sort of fleet vehicle. it is also 12V, not 24V as many BJ42s are.

the good: radiator re-cored with a staggered 4-core, new brakes (drums, shoes, master/wheel cylinders, the works), engine burns oil but runs very well, transmission/transfer also runs strong, new fibreglass fenders, hella ECE headlamps with HID kit installed, new BF goodrich ATs, and the EDIC works.

the bad: you guessed it, lots of body rust (frame still looks pretty good). no huge holes yet but it's getting pretty bad. typical 25 year old 40 series rust issues. the exhaust is also gone from the down-pipe at the engine on back. front axle is leaking at the knuckle and likely needs new seals. parking brake cable is also shot. on the upside, the glass is still good.

$4,500. i also have a spare 3B short-block in a crate (no starter, no alternator, but does have fuel system, it turns over by hand but i cannot attest to its running condition), take them both in one shot for $5,000 and save me the trouble of selling the spare 3B separately. as-is, where-is, no trade-ins (please don't ask). photos and video of it starting and running to follow tomorrow evening.

pictures, warts and all. will get more up soon, and video when i can actually make it home before dark...

make me an offer...

i have not yet seen under carriage rust that bad!! looks like a lot of work. but would make a great project.

if you cant get rid of it ill take that motor in a heart beat! let me know.

Did it work in a salt mine in NZ? Just kidding. I dont think that is an inordinate amount of rust. I bet this is a great candidate for a full restore and in a year we'll see it on ebay with an starting bid of 25K. GLWS.

how do I know you take this up Wiley !

And how many gallons of Rust Mort have you used thus far on the frame? Any plans for an Aqualu tub in the future? That rig would be perfect for that.
