I was reminded that I need to update this.
The primer & paint worked much better after that, so now it's waiting in the cab for install. I need to get some pics of that.
Also finished getting the power steering pump back together...
...and installed.
The formed reservoir hose is not available, but a standard hose cut to length works fine.

Well documented, thanks for sharing.
I had the same issue with the teeth on my old mini, teeth were broken and I was broke.
I welded up tacks on the cam, then ground and filed them down to oem size. Worked really well
Keep at it, I like the way you're heading!

I did some work on a guy's FJ Cruiser, and he has a bead blaster sitting in his garage. He normally uses it for refinishing firearms as a side hobby, but was kind enough to clean up a couple of my parts.
This is much better than the wire wheel and sandpaper I was using.
The inside of the oil pan still has some rust, so I went ahead and oiled it when I was priming and painting.
Just one fuzzy picture of it piled in the back of the truck with everything else.

I got the trans back from Marlin.
Here's my 16 month old "helping" in the garage. He actually already knows how a screwdriver works.
So, on my day off this week, I decided to try to get everything else back together as well.
First, i finished cleaning up the back of the head.
Then, I got the plate ready for install. I used FIPG for oil around the EGR ports, and the green tube is what Toyota uses with the newer coolants.
Installed! The sealant oozed out a bit and looks messy, but it should hold. I was also concerned about the cam plug possibly leaking, so added some sealant under its flap.

That was about all I accomplished on my day off, because the bolts for the rear main seal retainer went missing. Today I scavenged some from around the shop and brought them home, with just enough time before dinner to install the retainer & the oil pan.
Those are Fleet Runner belts that Napa gets from Gates. All except the narrow one.

Yep, it's back in, thanks to the 3 day weekend!
Except I had the transfer case shifter in backwards. Here it is the right way, with a new boot from this guy: FS [International]: New Handmade Replica Shifter Boots For Sale - YotaTech Forums
One thing I was also needing to do was address the "dying at times" issue. Awhile back, I found this thread about the ECM connections: First gen Emission control box fix!
So, while I was addressing other things, I also did this.

I got the u-joints done on the rear driveshaft and painted it all up.
Then on 7/10/16 at 7:00 PM, it pulled out of the garage under its own power.
Still working on the front driveshaft, and having a few issues. Some parts are all nicely painted.
Others I'm still working on.
The plug for the sliding portion of the shaft was missing. I had a newer shaft that I popped the plug out of, but it was slightly larger diameter. I used the bench grinder with a pocket magnet holding the plug.
It fit almost perfectly, with a little bit of FIPG to seal it up and a restake to hold it in place.
Also working on the CV ball joint that goes in the middle of the double cardan joint. I tried to get it out with the seal puller and a hammer.
The seal popped out, but the joint stayed in until I got a small Torx bit to put in the grease hole, and used the press.
That actually only got the ball out, then I had to use the puller on the race. Using the kit from Precision (613) that it calls for, but the new seal is a smaller diameter. Found out these kits all come from Rockford Driveline, and they have an adapter ring that it looks like I need. http://www.rockforddriveline.com/toyota.pdf I called them, got great customer service, and now one is on its way.

As it was idling in the driveway, I noticed an oil puddle under the front of the engine. It looks like the front crank seal also needs replacement.
Actually, there is oil on the bellhousing again. Wondering if I'll need to pull the trans again and install one of these: Seal Saver - 20R/22R/RE/RET Rear Main Seal Saver
Maybe should get the one for the front as well. 20R/2102R/RE/RET Front Balancer Seal Saver

Thanks, I have at least one more to do, but might end up skipping an issue again.
I have some cool stuff to post, including a purchase I made for it this week, but everything is still sitting in the back of my Cruiser.
I did try to drive it to work today, but as it was idling and we were loading up, I noticed coolant leaking again near the bottom radiator hose. Hopefully it's just a clamp; I'll check it when I get some time.

It looks like the coolant leak was just a clamp, so that was easily taken care of.

Brought back a bench seat, and front & rear 4X4Labs bumpers for the truck.
It's a little dirty, and I'll have to build something for the center portion to be able to seat three across.
The front bumper probably won't end up on this truck.
Maybe it should go on the Cruiser?

We moved on to fitting the rear bumper.
The exhaust pipe will have to change.
The hitch is welded to the frame, and the bumper brackets were welded to that, and well as bolted to the frame.
The only type of cutoff tool I had on hand was the Dremel, so why not try it?
Right after that, the wheel exploded.
I went through a few wheels, but got it done.
I'm thinking I'll leave the swingout bases on there, and have them low enough the tailgate can open. It looks like that should work.
There's about 5 inches to go forward, after I cut the hitch bracket to fit.
I will also have to do something where the flares are.
That's all for now. Next is sanding, priming, & painting.

My class was studying universal joints, so I showed the students how to put my front driveshaft back together.
The little grease plug for the CV ball joint was in pretty bad shape, and I forgot to put it back in before assembly. Trying to install it later just led to more damage.
I looked at using a little retainer clip with sealer instead, but it was even harder to get in position.
With a little trimming, it might have gone, but in the meantime I found the best way to access the hole...
...and the plug popped in securely.
