One thing to try is to put an ohm meter on the board from where the power goes out of the gauge to the barrell connector. See the 2 arrows below.
I have seen the posts on the barrel connector lose connection because they get dirty. clean them up and you maybe good. If you can short the post and the gauge moves then your gauge should be ok.
