I own a 1982 FJ40 LX and am wondering if anyone else has one also, I've checked alot of auction sites and specialist sites and so far haven't seen anything mentioning or showing the LX model.

thanks for the info, it's nice to find stuff on the LX, it's also interesting to see the various different specs for the LX. I've owned my '82 LX since 1983 but in all that time it's only had 6 years on the road, the rest of the time it's been stored in my garage, so I can confidently say it's in pretty good condition. Mine has the 2F engine, power steering with brown plastic interior and the zebra stripe seats, in addition I've fitted a Fairey Over Drive back in '87.

John, that's a very nice 40LX with original paint and chrome trimmings! As a youngster back in the 60s I've always wanted one of these legendary trucks and now in my old age I've owned two of them. I love working on them as well as driving them in the Washington mountains. I'm in the process of adding some of the creature comforts that your LX has to mine, like power steering, etc. I'd love to see more of your LX do you have any interior pics?

Beeeautfil LX! Great to see it all original too! Like 78fj50mg said, do you have any interior photos?

Well, that LX gets my attention. I really like it and please take some pics of the interior, focus on those seats. In 1983 I was to broke to get one so I envy anyone who was able to. One beautiful rig.

John,

Looks to be in very nice condition, from early 1982.

Has signs of being a LHD, power steering, Middle East spec--did you bring it back from Saudi Arabia?

The Chrome Bumper and front grille is a giveaway that its a Middle East model.

yes I bought it when working in Saudi Arabia, an '82 and I bought it in '83, it started life up where I was working in the southern Asir mountains of Saudi, 7000ft, so low humidity & no rust. Brought back to the U.K. in '86, used it till '89 when I shipped it to the Gulf as I got a job out there, intending to leave it there but the job failed and I brought it back to the U.K. in '90. Since then it's been stored in my garage with just two occasions when I put it on the road for a couple of months, it's had an easy life since leaving Saudi Arabia. While in Bahrain I did get the body resprayed as it was getting a bit faded. While using it in the U.K. I fitted a new Fairey Over Drive which makes a huge difference and gives you way too many gear options! I'm currently spending this winter preparing it for the road this year, just replaced all the spring bushes, fitted a complete new set of brake wheel cylinders and brake shoes too, now doing some minor bodywork stuff on stone chips. I'm not going to have a full repaint, just touch up the where the stone chips etc are because I want to keep it original as much as possible because my intention is to finally sell it probably in a couple of years. I'll post some pics of the seats etc.

wow.....that's turning into a complete transformation, the engine bay looks to have an awful lot of new shiny parts, I wish I had kept the original split rim wheels....but then I wouldn't be able to get it into my garage. best of luck with the remainder of your project.

That is a great story, best of luck with it.

Agree , and welcome aboard !
This is by far the most knowledgeable data base of owners on the planet and that includes some of the best professional Land Cruiser mechanics as well as some of the best fabricators in the market . Doesn't get any better , period . Spend the time/coin for a Silver Star or higher - it's worth giving back to such a resource ...

Wondering? I thought that all LX models had the 3 windshield wiper configuration. Why doesn't yours?
