This is a great running and very desirable later year 40. I have owned this one for about 6 yrs. I have done all the work on this 40 and it has been done right. Mechanically this 40 is very sound, it has 32x11.50 Bridgestone Dueler tires. It also has a black bestop soft top and doors as well as a bikini top. NO hard top or doors.

I have replaced the front floor pans and a few rust spots in the rear floor. There was some rust in the rear quarters that was repaired before it was painted and I bought the cruiser. After repairing the floor I bed lined the interior. It was done a few years ago. The clear coat on the hood and front fenders has been flaking as well.

In the last few years I have:
Rebuilt and resealed the front axle
Replaced the front and rear brakes
Replaced the clutch hydraulics
Installed new header and exhaust
Rebuilt carb and tuned up engine
New radiator and water pump
New Battery
New front seats and rear fold and tumble jeep seat
New 4 point shoulder harnesses in front and back
New Tie Rod ends and center arm kit
Resealed Steering box

Just wondering what's different between the earlier years and later ones besides heavier brakes ac power steering? It's the wheelbase longer? Is it wider? Ambulance doors? I'm asking you about your rig basically

There are quite a few differences with the later years. 79 the body changed. Mainly on the interior. The gas tank was moved underneath and Uped to 21 gallons. The parking brake was moved from transfer case to rear axle. On the 81 it's a split transfer so you can shift into 4wheel drive while driving. The distributor is also larger. The hard top and doors are pretty much the same 78 and up. Mine does not have a hard top or doors though. Just a soft top. The gearing is 370 vs 411 on the 78 and older so they can go a little faster on hwy.

I'm sure there is a few other things as well. Feel free to give me a call if you'd like more info on mine.

Thanks
Danny
