I'm rebuilding a 1980 Fj40 and 1987 Fj60 OEM carburetor. I looked at some various diagrams that show the Primary Main Jet in the middle of the bowl under the "spring plunger valve" has a jet underneath it. Neither of mine have this jet but seemed to run well. Am I missing something? The kit I ordered didn't have the jets nor instructions and I don't believe the FSM I have from 1983 mentioned it. The one in the kit had a rubber/plastic cap on the top with a split in it is this normal? I assume it is since my old one (pictured) did as well. Does a jet go under it? Any help is appreciated. I apologize for my carb parts name ignorance!
Best Regards- Bruce

If I’m not mistaken, the bottom of the brass part you’re holding is the jet; unless it’s been removed. That’s the power valve that adds extra fuel when vacuum drops below a certain point so you wouldn’t likely notice it often, only in pretty low vacuum settings.

Apparently it's gone based on the another's post and pics. Thanks

I had issues with it idling lower than 1050 no matter what. All new hoses and good idle solenoid switch. That's what started this carb rebuild. Also found the secondary vacuum diaphragm spring on the wrong side!!

Here's some carb info and power jet sizes from Amayama that helped me. It's where I found the OEM jet sizes for my CA spec carb. I don't know where to source the jets, most show NLA.
As an aside, the stock power jet for my carb shows a size of 70, but it's ran well and passed emissions for 20+ years with a 90.

Back in the day jets size was the number drill size. Bigger the number the smaller the hole. This was true for USA made carbs, not sure how toyota does it. You could ream out a small hole to a larger size easy enough. Making a hole smaller can be done but it more work.

I believe Toyota jet sizes are in mm or some similar, heathen measurement system.

@Buffchief If you’ve got it apart, see if a main jet will thread in there. If it does, then you could find one a touch smaller and drill it as @charliemeyer007 is saying or just go one size up.

Looks to me like the internal and external threads are in bad condition and need to be chased to see if they can be saved.

No the power valve you have is aftermarket from the Hygrade, etc USA carb kits. I don't like them personally but they work. For your carburetor and any USA 80-87 carburetor you should have the following jets:

Primary: 147
Secondary: 200
Pilot Jet (subject question): 80
Primary Slow: 65
Secondary Slow: 90

Then make sure the slows aren't cracked or missing the brass jet insert as that can happen. They are quite small and some 0000 steel wool to clean it up will make it easy to see if so.
