Description: 1979 FJ40; Factory P/S, AC, factory roll bar, stock straight 6 engine rebuilt. 61k on odometer. Replaced crate engine with @45 k. Oil & lube every 3500. All service records available. Reliable, have driven x-country several times. Any backcountry use has been moderate. It has been babied for the past 10 or more years!

REPLACED OR REPAIRED LAST TWO YEARS:
new Toyota windshield and gasket, center arm rebuilt kit with OEM parts. Steers straight and tight, no wandering)
motor for windshield wipers,
brakes pads and lines, muffler pipes and resonator,
recharged AC - blows cold
lug bolts on front hubs replaced,
carb fan ,
brake master cylinder,
3 point seatbelt on drivers side
All keys matched for sanity ( had five separate locks previously )
Recently repainted and they could have done better but it looks much nicer than the old faded paint did.
NOT PAINTED TO COVER RUST, Any rust spots will be fully disclosed. No surprises!
dash and all seat upholstery, original jump seats, roof liner, and interior surface paint, all excellent.
Some very light scratches on ambulance door left interior,
interior floor has rust on the passengers floor. Easy to relpace with welding experencxe
Some Moderate and reparable rust in rear corners(pictures Soon.
cd player is in-op but wires intact for a new deck of your choosing

EXTERIOR:
Tow mount on front bumper. Hardtop has not been removed as long as it's been in the family and does not leak. . Modest lift. Shackles are longer than stock with good arch in the leaf springs.
Currently running 31 inch BFG AT's (2 new last summer) with matching spare. 33's could fit with no problem. NOTES: easy top speed @ 63 mph, AC is a luxury, PS makes it a easy cruise. Like most FJ40’s it’s a typical noisy ride. I have owned the vehicle for 10 years.
Very tight down the road at any speed. No rattles or drafts. I would drive it to Vermont tomorrow with out a seconds thought.

PRICE is $9500. This is a great price for an FJ40 in this condition and options. A partial trade for a nice Fj60 would also be considered which is why it's for sale.

Location: Bend, OR

Thanks for looking

Nice truck, wrong coast ( again i think I have to move..lol)..good luck looks good.

Come to the West. You'll like it out here. Thanks for the kind words. I don't know what gives. Crapped out FJ40's are selling for 6 and 7K. For just a little more someone can buy a truly nice 40. I'm puzzled:confused: Perhaps I should raise the price:lol:

If the shipping cost didn't factor in so much of my budget, I would be real interested. Got all the factors that i like. Complete ( with jumps), no big rust etc..the p/s and a/c are just sweeter to the pot. I guess its tough for people. I don't get the lousy 40s for 6-7..at all. My feeling is that they sell to a buyer who wants a 40 but either A) has a lot of experience or b) has no idea of the cost involved. Or they think they can buy one, put some work into it and try to get 20 because they see a few selling for that. I have been looking, the prices are really all over the map.

Yes the A/C and P/S are a great bonus plus I need to be in the tri-cities in a couple of months for a short visit which is just a short hop from Bend.
My thing is the manual does not work good for me in the washes and rocks of the desert, automatics work more smoothly. Of course with 40's that is not a option w/o a heart transplant.
So I am looking at the options gathering funds etc. may end up with a manual tranny anyway and this one is a great unit and at a great price.

Price bump!! Let Go!!

I really don't wanna do Ebay so it is $8950. Bring cash and leave very happy in YOUR NEW FJ40!!

Rambrush, You'll like having the nice COLD A/C for those hot AZ days. Wheel in comfort with the windows up dust free. That might offset the Automatic issue a little?? I don't think it'll be here in a month let alone three. Phoenix to Redmond Airport is an easy flight :D

Cruiser9, I couldn't agree more. Regarding the shipping, Could make for a great road trip:D
