1978 FJ40 for sale in Huntsville, AL **PRICE LOWERED**
1978 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40
Shows 50k miles, but probably 150k.
Since the purchase of this Landcruiser a little over a year ago I have repaired many things like getting the interior fan and heater working, door handles and locks (all three hardtop locks lock), gauges, transfer case, brake work, steering, bolt kits for hardtop and ambi doors, re-wiring rear lights with CCOT replacement, all bulbs, all new exhaust, carb work, many worn out general maintenance parts shown below.
Exterior: Good original Olive Brown factory paint. Has some surface rust here and there but nothing terrible. There is rust under the rear ambulance doors that has gone all the way through, this piece can be replaced for $125 from CCOT. The front doors and ambulance doors are in pretty good shape with some rust under them, the top is also in good shape and in the same condition. All the glass is good with no cracks. The front bumper is a custom heavy duty one with a 3” receiver channel and clevis shackles on both ends. The driver side key lock will not open off the ignition key and I do not have the key for this lock.
Interior: The interior is completely stock all the gauges work except the oil pressure gauge, which I replaced with a manual gauge that reads 60lbs of oil pressure at idle. The front and rear heaters are in working condition so are the wipers and all other pull knobs. There is currently not a radio installed but the wires are there to plug one up. The passenger seat is in good shape but the driver seat is torn on the bottom and needs to be recovered. The jump seats are in pretty good shape with no tears. The floor boards are solid and original.
Extras: It comes with a new black bikini top with windshield channel and rear tie downs. Also has a thule bike rack on the spare. Top weather stripping kit from CCOT.
Maintenance: The gear oils in the drive train have been changed. New parts include: spark plugs, belts, oil pressure sending unit, blaster coil, 31x10.50 R15 BGF AT/KO tires with same size spare (mud terrain), and various little things that I cannot remember.
This Landcruiser runs great. It has a very nice ride and the manual steering is very tight so no wandering around the road. When I drive it to work it goes 65 with no issues. The 4 wheel drive works good and the transfer case shifts smoothly. The clutch is in good condition and the transmission shifts smoothly. The engine runs great and idles without any misses. It does not overheat but does leak some oil, but you cannot really tell between oil changes. This Landcruiser is about as close to original as you will find, even down to still having drive flanges. The only reason I am selling it is because I just bought another old 4X4 project and only need one.

***Some of the pics in the link are from before I had the sides of the top painted. They are painted the original color and match up with the rest of the body. And I don't have the roof rack in the pics anymore. The front and rear doors have been waxed since pics were taken and do not look dull anymore.***
Price lowered to $6,950 OBO to mudders
It is parked at the park n sell on south parkway in Huntsville, AL if you are local and want to see it in person.
I will be relisting it on ebay Monday because of a bad buyer. I will post a link then.
