I would personally drive this FJ anywhere in the country. Have cruised 65mph on the highway all day long. This is my 3rd and it runs better, has more balls, and drives on the street smoother than any one I have had. This being said, I truly do not want to sell this gem but Lucy (her name) is being sacrificed for the greater good.

Asking 13500 but open to all respectable offers, am also open to trade plus cash (1st gen 4-runner & early 90s tacomas, 4x4). Delivery is negotiable up to 500 miles, deposit required Make sure to leave message; I tend to screen calls. 727-251-3144. Jake

Absolutely no tire kickers, I don't have time!

Questions...

How many miles on vehicle? How many miles on vehicle when the engine was rebuilt? Any changes to transmission? Any changes in gearing in the diffs?

Thanks, Paul.

Thanks for the info, Jake. Truck is located in Arizona, right?

Yeah, it might be a bit far for me... but for the right truck I'd make the trip. I'm in the market for something that is heaps reliable as I work in Haiti most of the year and need to build or find a rig that I can ship over there.

Shhhh, can you hear it? "buy me......buy me." Don't be scared to make me an offer. I've had two solid offers but after I agreed to the price they couldn't come up with payment. Last thing I want to do is sell my baby but because of my economic situation I am forced to. Needs someone to care for her as much as I do.

Truck has been in Fl about 7 yrs. The last owner stopped me at a red light while I was driving my 78 fj40. He explained to me his best friend died of cancer and the family wanted him to have his 40, they grew up in Arizona and the family had it shipped to him in Fl. At the time he stopped me at the red light enough time had passed that he has started his own family and wanted $ to buy a travel trailer. I bought his and sold my 78, (paid 5k sold for 16k) so I spared no $ on my (investment, 77). At the time is was intended to be my toy but a savings account as well for when my wife got prego. I could have easily sold it for 20k at the time but the market went south as well as my investment, like many ppl.

So when I stated Arizona born I meant it spent most of its life there and was not exposed to humidity and salt. I hope that makes sense and I have explained clearly.

The reason I jumped at the chance to buy it was that it was totally rust free no filler ect. only a fade of the paint job which I had repainted for 3k, using PPG and Global clear coat. I hope that helps u understand.

Thanks fr looking, Jake

I know that everyone selling their Fj claims that it is the best and always put the $ amount they have invested. I have never cared the amount of $ppl have invested in their rig for the simple fact that at the end of the day ppl don't care as long as the rig is what they were looking for and as far as everyone claiming they have the nicest I truely believe that ppl who own fjs take great pride in their rigs and treat them better than their wives for the most part unless its garage find. That being said, I do treat my 40 better than my wife (if it needs something it gets it, sometimes the wife needs to wait a while:doh:) And for the amount invested its over 18K which includes purchase.

Since everyone else puts amount invested ( I could careless about it) I went ahead and joined the $$ people. ;p

Hey Jake,

You've listed an 8000 lb winch as part of the package. Where is the winch? I don't see it on the truck (no fairlead visible either)... What kind of winch is it? Warn 8274? Warn M8000?

Listen, I'm still interested in your truck regardless of distance, but I can't preview it from here... can you send me a couple dozen pics... interior/exterior/under vehicle/under hood/accessories? I PM'ed you my email address so you can send them directly.

Oh, and at your listed price I'm still choking... and I'm afraid I may offend you with my offer.

Thanks, Paul.

FYI; I'm no longer interested. Paul.

Paul, Thanks for the FYI. As you can see the post above yours that sale is pending. With all due respect as I first stated to you. There are entirely too many very nice 40s for sale on the west coast to justify paying for the shipping to Canada. I thank you for showing interest in my 40 but in the end shipping costs would exceed 1/3 of the price of the cruiser, I could not have sold to you in good conscience knowing what I know about the amount of nice cruisers much closer to you. Thanks again, Jake

Jake, I never stated anything about shipping the truck to Canada, in fact I stated something entirely different... re-read my posts if you're in doubt, that's the beauty of a thread. You're making presumptions about what I would have planned to do with it once purchased and based on those presumptions you have made decisions which have frankly lost you a potential buyer.

Also, this is the first time that you have stated the following to me on this thread: 'With all due respect as I first stated to you. There are entirely too many very nice 40s for sale on the west coast to justify paying for the shipping to Canada.'

Have a great day, Paul.

Some ppl have way to much time on there hands. The MODs can do what they please with this but when a buyer says they are choking at the price and continues to ask for pics the seller will not take you as a serious buyer. Threads are nice, I like pms better tho.

Sale is still pending. I would like to say I'm sorry to "gohardcore" for the comments I made on the thread and on pm. My emotions got the better of me and I feel I am a better person than what was written. No one asked me to do this and I didn't need to. I feel ppl will treat with the same respect you treat them with and I feel bad for my behavior. Call me a pu@#y but I will sleep better to night. Karma. Jake
