Posting this for my brother. The time has come to let this truck go as it spends all its time in the garage and doesn't see many miles anymore.
I purchased this from a friend back in ~2002 and sold to my younger brother after getting it running the same year. Has been in our family for 24yrs.
It made a few trips to GSMTR 2010 - 2017 and even served as the vehicle I proposed to my wife out of. I don't have the room for another 40 otherwise I would just buy back.
This truck is a great candidate for a daily driver or a great starting point for a mild wheeler. Almost all original.
1976 FJ40 (Dec 1975)
VIN: #FJ40-213958
Paint: Green (Toyota 6V7 Army Green)
2F engine (numbers matching)
38/38 Weber Carb
TRI-Y Headers (6 to 1)
4" skyjacker lift
33x10.50R15 BF Goodrich KM2 all-terrain tires
Stock steelies with hubcaps
4.10 stock gears (open differentials)
4 speed transmission
Hardtop
WARN Zeon 8 winch (never been used)
The Good:
Seats (front and jump) are reupholstered and in excellent condition
Numbers matching truck for anyone that is looking for that
All body panels are solid, no rust steel... aprons, bib, windshield, fenders, hardtop, hood, etc... (more about tub below).
Painted in 2016 using FJ Cruiser Army Green. All pieces removed for paint job.
Line-X coating on running boards (solid running boards from my 1973 40)
Front cage
New alternator/battery (Dec 2025)
Brand New winch waiting to have some fun... I actually won it a few years back as a raffle at GMSTR.
Solid Truck all around
Up to date on oil change.
All drivetrain oils last serviced back in 2017 - not many miles on it.
The Bad:
Needs tires - they are expired. Amazing condition tires with lots of tread... but were bought in 2010 so need to be changed.
The tub - tub had plenty of classic rot and all areas had panels cut out and welded in (rear sill. both quarters, both rocker sills). Tub is solid but if someone wanted to turn this into a "show truck" I would look into a 3/4 tub someday - only if a purist. All is good if wanting to just enjoy the truck, wheel, etc...
The paint - Paint job looks great, but... the shop that painted it did a very thick layer which resulted in 2 runs in the main body and is cracking in the rear quarter panel area (spider webbing). Slap diamond plate quarter panels on and you would never notice but wanted to disclose it.
Asking price is $19,500.
