***SOLD***
My brother owned this truck for several years and did the SOA on it. My brother traded it to a friend of ours about a year ago but our friend didn't do anything with it (only drove it maybe 25 miles and kept it inside a garage) and he asked if I would like to buy it back. I told him I could either buy it back from him and flip it or I would help him sell it. He chose for me to pay him and flip it so here it is.
I am giving some history because I don't know a lot about the truck but my brother can help me with y'alls questions. I will try to answer as honestly and completely as possible but I have only had the truck about 2 days.
It is a 1974 FJ40. It still has the Toyota 6 cylinder and 4 speed tranny. It has an aftermarket carb but I believe the original Aisin is in the back of the truck. It has a header on it. It cranks and runs pretty nice. Pretty smooth Idle and quiet because of a fairly new muffler and exhaust pipe.
Body is very solid. only a small number of visible rust through at the corner reflectors. Paint is mostly original except for some areas of gray primer to hold the surface rust at bay. Sale includes the hardtop and doors. Metaltech Nose guard and stinger kit on the front protecting a massive old school Ramsey winch. Rear has a homebuilt bumper with swing out tire carrier.
Interior is nice as well. Front seats were re-covered at some point but don't have the headrests or metal back plates. There is a fold and tumble back seat but the LC rear side seats are included in the sale as well. Interior floors appear to be very solid.
Axles are 60 series that have been cut and turned for the SOA. Disc brakes on front. ARB Lockers installed in the third members but have not been plumbed to an air supply. Steering has been upgraded to some form of high steer because the tie rods are above the springs but I am not sure whose brand it is. Still using the original FJ40 gear box for the steering, NO POWER STEERING has been added.
I have a clear Texas title in my brothers name (our friend never registered it). This will make someone a great trail truck. If I was keeping it, I would hookup the ARB's, install power steering, put some bigger tires on it, and drive the crap out of it on the trails until the 6 cylinder dies(IF it ever does). Then I would probably drop a V8 in it.
Vehicle is located in Tyler Texas. Asking price is $6200 but I am negotiable. I figure a stock truck (SUA) in this condition is worth $4-$5k and the pair of ARB's are about $2000 without labor for install. I am trying to price it fair to begin with so please don't lowball me. I will attach pics shortly.
