I have already had the VIN run and it is not reported stolen or register for a significant time. It was purchased from a family with a deceased owner. The truck has been a driveway plow for over 15 years.
Well he definitely didn't drown, since, according to the pic, the factory leaves what appears to be a drainage hole in the frame (remarkably over the same numbers in the vin as the gunshot on door vin. plate). Might be to let the blood drain out. The color is minty, and there should be a 45 out there somewhere in the same color.did he die of a gunshot? looks like a bullet hole in the door VIN
is it Spring or Seafoam Green?
congrats Upperback![]()
Landpimp, conspiracy theories are for nuts and wormhole dwellers. Much better to stick with what is obviously true. I think what we have here is one of the famous Toyota Bring Your 40 of Sake to Work designs. Reports of these are rampant, but an actual, numbers matching version is extremely rare. I am surprised seller didn't charge an extra premium on this one. There are a number of identifying characteristics on these babies: Due to the source material being primarily Japanese Jackalope, as the vehicles age, they mostly yellow, rather than rust or grey (see all pics for reference). This is highly desirable because rather than replace parts with sheet metal etc, one can merely wipe with any citrus covered cloth(the technique developed from the elimination of scurvy from long naval expeditions). There are a host of other small identifiers which you hinted at, the infamous ballistic test for all id plates, the blind rivets challenge and of course the emperor's expanding title only visible when viewed through the holes of the id badge. Legend has it that at the end of "Bring your 40 of Saki to Work Day" a festive pin the vin on the forty game ended the days ceremonies. This might explain the door tag vin plates, that or they may have been just too hammered to open the hood. I had only heard of these in legend, it is astounding to see such a perfect example. That's all I know, if you want to find out more, I would check with Classic Cruisers as mentioned earlier in this thread. They seem to sell titles vins, and without a functioning website. Fortunately they continue the tradition of these interestingly designed vehicles by linking to images and threads to classic cruiser bikes from their google page. Hope that was helpful, my experience is these things, usually disappear rather quickly, usually you can't find any further responses. I would guess collectors like to keep these rare beasts to themselves. Do let me know if you spot another one, lately, I have run across a ton of them.Oh my....I did not notice the frame VIN......that does seem like a rather odd coincidence, maybe it was once owned by the shooter from the grassy knoll....
PO relayed they changed the color to Minty. I believe. That however is the only info I haveSpring Green Code T1028 only available in 70 according to the info I have. If this is a 71 it must have been available then too!

The truck was a late 1970 manufacture date.Spring Green Code T1028 only available in 70 according to the info I have. If this is a 71 it must have been available then too!
