1970 (May) Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 FST
3.9 Inline Six Cylinder Engine
3 speed column shift
Hi and Lo Range 4x4
Factory Soft Top sold in Southwestern US in the 60s and 70s
100% original, never cut on or modified
Bought in El Paso, Texas and brought to East Texas where it's lived since
I've known the original owner all my life, he used sparingly over the past 45 years
I have refreshed all of the mechanical parts using OEM or high quality Japanese parts to make this Land Cruiser perform as it did when new. This is NOT a nut and bolt restoration, but an all original stock refresh that I intend for someone to use everyday and not pamper. This is a daily driver that is dependable and strong enough to drive thru mountain passes.

New Parts and Recent Work List:
All fluids changed down to the differentials within the last 30 days
Brand new OEM brake master cylinder and 8 new wheel cylinders
New OEM Fuel Pump
Stock carburetor rebuild
New distributor cap, plugs, and wires
New intake manifold gasket and exhaust manifold gasket
New Japanese 555 tie rod ends and four wheel alignment
Parking brake rebuild kit and new pads
New Radiator, all new hoses, and fresh coolant
New Monroe HD shocks and HFS 1.5 shackles, cruiser rides and handles like a dream
New OEM emblems, marker and blinker light covers, and reverse light
New TEQ Tops OEM Spec Soft Top Frame and Bow Kit and Olive Drab 5 window Heavy Duty Canvas Top
5 new Federal MT 30x9.50 tires on 5 original FJ40 wheels
(All wheels have hub cap clips and hub caps still available from Toyota)
New wiring and solenoid cover for Warn 8274 winch
All seats were recovered factory matched vinyl grey within the last year

This is a rare classic Toyota 4x4 and everything works down to the map light (only an option for factory soft tops as well as a tailgate). Runs, drives, and shifts very well. 4x4 works works perfectly. Drum brakes are brand new and adjusted to spec. All blinkers and exterior lights work perfect. Heater hi and lo works great, as well as windshield wipers. I matched the paint to the factory original and flattened it to be able to easily repair any scratches or blemishes. This Land Cruiser has never been to the body shop or had any alterations to the body. There are bumps and bruises and the paint is not show quality by any means. It does look great, is easily touched up, durable, and inexpensive to maintain. There is one rust area in the rear bed of the FJ40 that I would like to disclose, a few very small holes in an area about the size of your hand where feed was left by the original owner and it ate thru the bed. This truck has no other rust issues. The floors, rear sil, and quarter panels are all very solid. This has been a Texas truck for it's whole life. Original FJ40s in this condition are very hard to find, and factory soft tops are like dinosaurs now. It's very hard to source parts like the original tailgate and the soft door frames, as well as the weatherstripping and this one is complete. Please contact me for specific photos you would like to see that are not posted. I have the clear Texas title and other vintage factory Toyota documentation. The original Toyota inspection light is in the glove box and it also comes with a factory Jerry Can and holder.
I am asking $22000 OBO

Going to take it to eBay if it doesn't sell within the next 10 days. Willing to make a good deal to someone on mud. I have a 55 I'm still trying to fully restore so I need cash to fund my swine flu.

Really.. Very nice truck. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words. Haven't had much interest locally or here on mud yet. Will be posting the eBay link once I go there later this week.

very nice rig, this is just my opinion, it looks very nice then you see the glove box door and the speedo cluster surround, for the price I think those should look nicer.

GLWTS

I purposely left the glove box and speedo housing original because it was never intended to be a full restoration. I wanted it to be a fully functional all original example. My price is completely negotiable.
