I believe I found the problem, seems like we busted the c-clip that helps hold the timing gear in place. The gear worked loose, lost a number of teeth, which was allowing the cam to float back and forth causing the clunking sound. It also affected the timing (go figure).Not sure if I pushed Hamm too hard on the Williams trek or what, but he has developed a nasty knock akin to sloppy valve settings. I have verified correct lifter gap, cross checked timing, and am worried what it might be.
