From your picture your seats belts don't look that bad. I believe 69 was the last model year red was used. My 10/69 70 model seats belts are black. That would make these all at least forty-five years old. Not sure I have the seats belts out of my 68 anymore, removed them when I installed bucket seats thirty years ago.

Do you have a list of parts you reproduced for your 68? I remembering taking pictures of the latch handle on the front seats years ago. While I don't need one of those the cover on the windshield motor that covers the contacts goes MIA on most cruisers. You didn't happen to make those?
hi living yes I make some do you need one??
and thanks for the pics at that day
best regards

I could use more than one. I have 68, 70, 73 plus a complete spare windshield. My 68 which I've owned the longest had almost a complete one. All the rest were missing the cover. How much are they? Shipping would be to AZ.

Just let me know the cost. Shipping would be to 85345. Six if you have them. I believe I have a couple of wiper motors store away in boxes I haven't looked at for ten years. I sure miss the days I could find plenty of FJ40s in junk yards.

Just to be clear I'm looking to pay for shipping as well as pay for the covers.

Thank you.

I thought about you again today.... one of my favorite (donated) planes dropped out of the sky

This happened :(

I guess you can say the red baron is dead

I hope your build is better off than the models in my room :) ... I am thinking I may re-donate the planes to the Aerodrome my father (retired) volunteers at

Sooooo Jad any progress?

Great job! I have a 68(best year!) and I come to Mexico (Puerto Vallarta) several times a year (4 or 6). I'm going to keep watching your progress. It's very good and the way you think about solving problems is very refreshing. You see things as you would like them to be and make them so. I'm just getting started on my restoration. I have fixed a few things and look to the forum for a lot of help and advice and so on, but you have done the best job!

Thanks Matt !!
Anny time!!!
me I see some pics of your fj40 68!!, I'm doing the rear sill and I notice the seam is shoorter than the aftermarquet sills!!

Curious I couldn't tell did your sill have the visible welds on ends of the opening in the back? Those were there from the factory until the 79 when they moved towards the center a little.

on my 68 you can see the clean straigth joint between the sill and rear fender..... no weld on it
also the floor goes and fold over the sill frame and cover by the sill cover.....
is that what you mean??

I took a number of pictures of the weld on different cruisers which I can't find but found one of my 70 that shows the weld on the sill below the doors. Also the only section of the rear sill that is double walled is the corners, If your floor folds over the sill with a second piece covering the sill in the middle I doubt it's stock.

Glad your back! There are some detailed photos of my rear sill replacement in my build thread. First couple of pages show it. I can't remember off hand, but I think your drawing is correct.

X2 Taking a look at my 68 this appears to be how the factory put these together. Bought mine in 74 and the PO had cut a hole to install a trailer light plug. What's interesting isn't hard to tell it's two layers and feeling thru the hole I can feel a rib where I guessing the floor ends. Need to see if I can some pictures. The sides were welded but how did they get the floor sandwich between the sill. Guessing it was stamped? Just glad I've never had to replace one.
