Please help rescue my sanity. I swore in the past I had a red Battery light that would come on when I switched on the key, and it would extinguish when the truck started.

a) is there such a light in my '68 truck?
b) if so, where is it located? there's nothing i can see in the gauge cluster, and no standalone lamps I can find.

Any/all help is appreciated.

I think your thinking of the charge light aka dummy light on older cruisers… like on this 64’ owners manual

Funny how it shows the dummy light but description talks about an actual gauge lol
yeah I think you're right. I guess there was never a battery/charge light.

That looks EXACTLY like the 1971 I had, including the color. The used car dealer said the green charging light on the dash wouldn’t go out even after he replaced the battery, alternator and VR so he made a deal on it $1,700. I paid him, took it out of 4WD, the light went out and I drove it home.

That’s an F’n riot!

The two red lights on either side of the instrument cluster are for turn signal. Non brake light in 68. My 70 doesn't have one either. Think 71 may have had a brake light to the left of the left turn signal indicator. 9/72 the turn signal indicators move to the face of the speedometer.

Here is my 2/73 dash previous owner had fun but still it does the brake light.
