I am just starting the restoration of a 1967 FJ45 LPB.

My first step is to replace the used original springs with a OME lift kit that will allow BFG 33 9.5 15 AT on stock steel rims.

Which OME lift kit is best for a DD (light wheeler) setup? Any idea on the best source (best deal) for the lift? I am in WA so I think I can source OME direct. I was thinking 2.5"

Background this was a California truck originally. The PO bought it in 1982 in San Deigo to use as a hunting truck. As would be expected F and 3 speed transmission are very worn. I opted to run a 78' 2F all Toyota drivetrain from a rusty but well maintained 1978 FJ40 that needed a new tub. We are swapping the entire drivetrain to the FJ45 this month. I found a complete Toyota PTO setup that will be added this winter. Original light blue repaint in the spring. Luckily this is not rusty. I need to buy a headache rack repro from the fellow in Canada who is remaking the 45 items.

Down the road I am going to swap a 1HZ that is sitting in my shop with a aussie spec H55F that I need to find. I want to start with the 2F for now as it is available and working now..... no pics yet as it is in the shop in a bunch of pieces.

Needs: headache rack, two more OEM hubcaps or five repro hubcaps, original rear bumper if it existed? all new rubber gaskets throughout?

Take Care,

RIDDLER

OME Lift

I did a lift on my 1967 FJ-45 LPB last fall and another on a 1964 FJ-45 SWB.

The options are front springs either
light to med load (up to 50kGS over stock)
Part # CS001F, springs.
Shocks N81
or
Med to heavy load (51-110) over stock)
Part # CS002F, springs.
Shocks N41 (firmer valve) or N81.

In the rear they only make one spring.
Part # CS003R (constant to 400KGS)
To make it a Med-Light duty spring you need to remove the 3rd leaf from the spring pack to reduce spring rate.
Shocks N42.

The Greasable shackles and pins come in
two sizes, the Compatible Bushing kits need to match.

Front
18mm Shackle pins and 35mm hanger bracket
OME GS2 (Greasable shackle) Qty 1 use bush. kit OME SB1 Qty 2
OME GP1 (Greasable pin) Qty 1 use bush. kit OME SB1 Qty 2

OR
15mm Shackle Pins and 24mm Hanger bracket.
OME GS8 Qty 1 use bush. kit OME SB30 Qty 2
OME GP1 Qty 1 use bush kit OME SB30 Qty 2

OME U59B Qty 1 (25mm eye spring) or
OME U55 Qty 1 (35mm eye spring)
REAR

OME GS17 use Bush. kit OME SB79 Qty 2
OME GSP02 Qty 2 use Bush. kit OME SB79
(GSP02 is only a greasable pin replacement for original pin.) And sold each.

OR
15mm Shackle Pins and 25mm Hanger bracket
OME GS9 Qty 1 use Bush. kit OME SB30
OME GP8 Qty 1 use bush kit OME SB30

Rear U-bolts OME U59B Qty 4

Steering Damper OME SD23 Qty 1

I'll look at my invoices tomorrow and let you know which part #s worked for both rigs. This information comes from a OME international application Catalogue. It really helped having this. In both rigs we went light on the front springs and removed the third spring from the rear pack. We both really like the way they ride. You can always put the rear springs back in, and even order extra single front springs (part #D3XL and spring bolt UCB8) if you go diesel and PTO, or order those H.D. front springs from the beginning and change them to Light duty until you do the engine swap. Go with the firmer valved shocks in front, as your plans for a heavy front end sound likely. Hope this helps.
BTW,
Dom Smith did a good write up on a OME install. He also talked about moving the rear springs perch 1inch to gain more clearance on the front of the rear wheel-well.

thanks

Hi Ehren- thanks for the update. Those part numbers are very helpful. Any idea on what a fair price is for the complete OME lift kit? I think MAF wants $1400 or so.....

thanks,

Aaron
