its looking good !!
looking back on doing the harnessif you go with a new 9Iused an ez harness) make sure you have all theplugs and pig tails for your old harness or what ever vintage harness you want to replicate. meaning I went with a 77 column so as to mate up with the saginaw set up so i had to get everything to match up with a 77-78 harness system. if you are going to use your fj55 harness or parts of it, i would highly recommend getting an electrically (toyota minded) person there to walk through it with you. I learned so much int he wiring process but still see so much more to learn. i would do the ez harness again in that you get a more modern fuse panel and the wire gauge is bigger. but i would also buy a used harness corosponding with the majority of switches and dash stuff to use to be spliced in. it was a pain having to order every switch and plug then have to reorder them with the pig tail and harness side plug. clear as mud right:)
Jason

yes, clear as mud. this is a subject that i definitely need some mud cleared from. i agree that going with a modern harness makes much more sense due to the gauge and quality of the wire. but the down side is you will no longer have a usable wiring diagram to go by for the future, it is not totally stock (if that really matters) and how do you get a modern harness to layout like the old harness without having to completely redo the modern harness which sort of defeats the purpose of the modern harness :confused::confused:

i am not using the fj55 harness, maybe bits and pieces. if money was not a problem, the smart thing to do would be to send my original harness to one of the companies that can repo it with all new stuff, then plug and play. buuut. $$$

I'm not the only one setting the bar high. Your doing some awesome work here. I'll be referencing this thread for tips and tricks. I feel like a little kid in a room full of giants with some of you guys. Just watching and learning.....:)

Awl_TEQ, I saw the work you did on those winches and the bed sides you bent, you are way over my head. But thanks for the complement none the less.

Hey Mark

Looks like your build is going to be finished before mine. Wow. into the 13th year of my 45LV build. Have never driven my truck. I think I must be cursed. Seems everywhere it has been sent it just takes up space. We have started a troopy and a 40 3 months ago and they will both be completed End of Feb. Frame off.
Anyway, glad to see the progress on your wagon. Maybe you can take me for a drive so I can see what a wagon is like to ride in.

Not too much progress due to pending back surgery. My doors have been completed and that is about all the progress since last post. Sorry for no pics but have not been out to the shop in a long time. Probably headed to Bremen Germany for Artificial Disc Replacement.

Back to the Future

Hey M. Wish you the best with the surgery. God bless the doc with success and future improvement. You have endured this for a long time.
Kind of like restorations. LONG TIME! My truck has no progress to my knowledge. Its only been 13.5 years since the start of complete frame off. I may have to finish this myself.

All the best with your back surgery. I spent the last year rehabing mine and can now finally sleep through the night in comfort. Yours sounds much more serious than mine was if your doing disc replacement. Again - good luck!

Well, it is official. I am headed to Germany for ADR (Artificial Disc Replacement) for my lumbar spine. I leave on May 10th and surgery is scheduled for May 15th. I will be in Germany for a little over two weeks. I am excited and ready to get on with this. I am also really excited because I was able to secure two passes to tour the Porsche production factory for the 911/997. That should be awesome. After the factory tour we will go to the brand new Porsche museum. Then off for surgery.

Hope all goes well in your surgery. I was going to say take pictures in the factory but I doubt they'll let you. Sounds like a fun trip (minus the surgery )

Peter, I was going to ask you for any recommendations. I will be in Stuttgart for only one night. Is this where you recommend we eat? Do you know of any good hotels that are located close to the Porsche Museum because we must be there no later than 10:00 am. If you are a minute late you loose your spot and that would suck big time.

Mark

don`t forget to visit a wine tavern in Stuttgart ;)
(great traditional "schwäbische Küche" food )
