Hey Matt, what kind of welder are you using? do you have any problems with it welding to hot? Ie. metal melting ect? with my licoln 175 even on the lowest setting it melts holes in the panel im welding on.

1. Hobart handler 135

2. No, not if I turn it down on a lower setting.

3. Lincoln 175 is 220v input voltage correct? My Hobart is 110v model. I'm sure others here might say that input voltage is irrelevant, but that's not my experience with welders. All the 220v welders I have every tried on sheet metal are just to hot no matter how far I turn them down and I have tried many. Sure it can be done, but it sucks and most inexperienced welders have a tough time with it. I'm sure others will read this and chime in how they weld thin sheet metal with 220v welders all the time with no problems...........good for them.........I will not get into an argument about it, 220v welders are just to hot for light metal in my opinion. They work great on the heavy stuff though, I use a big Miller for the few things I have had to do with heavy iron on the lv.....But, 97% of my welding is done on light stuff, so the Hobart works awesome, it can also handle up to 3/16" stuff, so I actually use it fairly often on some heavier stuff also.

I have a miller 135 and am doing body panels on mine right now and it works really good. 110 also.

I have to work late tonight so when I ran home for supper I sprayed a couple test panels with Sirius and pan white. I was hoping to let those dry and shoot the 2 different greys through the middle in the morning but, I emailed something to my wife today and oh did the s*** hit the fan

I emailed her pics of SOR's seat cover set and inside door panel set. She called me from her work place as soon as she got those pics. She thought that I had told here that the seat and inside door panels were an off white with a grey color. NOT a 2 different colors of grey on the door panels and seat covers.

Absolutely UN-ACCEPTABLE inside colors!!! According to her. She would have been totally happy with an off white upper color on the panel and in the seat andn then the grey, but not 2 different colors of grey!!

So............We had a small discussion concerning color, but if we weren't going to use SOR's seat covers and panels, and if we were going to have to have the panels and seat covers made she said grey wasn't here first choice anyway. She only chose it because of SOR's product, but after seeing there colors she doesn't want anything to do with that stuff.

So, now the white still might be right, don't know yet. She's going back to her first few choices of colors which are kinda olive drab greyish type color??? I can't bitch at her to much, because if you knew my wife she does have a great eye for color. And she's the one who is going to be driving it so I better make sure it is what she wants.

I did use a little of remaining Sirius white to spray up in the drip rail. Could have been any color since it is getting covered up anyway, but thought I would use some of the white anyway. Figured even more rust protection over the DP50lf primer, what the hell right?

I bet Marv could have his gals sew in any color you wanted for the panels. It's the same process to make white ones, just have to grab a different color fabric. Never hurts to ask. Last time I heard, the seat covers were on hold because the 45lv seats wern't all the same size. That was awhile ago though...

You might be right, I haven't asked.

I thought the seat covers were missing? I was looking on there site today and didn't see them.

I might talk to a gal locally that does some hot rod seat stuff. I've seen her work and might just ask what it would cost to do it. I'm sure she could make them, might be more expensive though?

Had a new color mixed this morning and I sprayed it at lunch.....Continetal Beige T-1653, 1971 Toyota color. I also sprayed the Asteroid Grey that I had mixed a few days ago. A couple days earlier I had sprayed the 2 whites, Siruis white and Pan white. Continetal Beige and Asteroid grey I sprayed down the center of those 2 panels so my wife was able to contrast them both.

The first pic is of all the test panels I have sprayed now.

Panel 1 from top to bottom - Pan white, Continetal Beige and Sirius white.
Panel 2 from top to bottom - Pan white, Asteroid grey and Sirius white.
Panel 3 from top to bottom - Lily white, Twighlight grey and Olympus white.

The wife is sold on the first panel and Continetal beige, so we have a winner there. Very nice color, kinda a Sage olive green mixed with a little beige brown, I like it and more importantly so does she. She likes the Pan white the best and would be happy with it, but thinks it still might be a little too bright of white. Tomorrow I might run up to the auto parts store or Monday and have them mix Toyota white 90157. Probably spray the Pan white and that new white with Continetal beige down the center, see what jumps out.

Then, got home tonight and welded back in the front and rear pieces I managed to salvaged. Went pretty good, just took some time. Didn't grind anything off yet or prime, but everything welded in and straight.

Also, fabricated 1 of several pieces that I need to fab up for the drip rail reinforcement. Just got one done to make sure I had the dimensions right and set it in there.

Probably not going to get much done this weekend. Car show tomorrow and planning on driving the 40 down to show it off a bit. Want to make sure the kids know theres other cool vehicles out there besides Detroit junk ;)

Sunday, might be doing a little RC plane flying with the boys. Haven't done any in a while and a buddy called me a couple days ago and is trying to get a little fun fly going. So...........might be doing that all day sunday :)

Just not enough days in the week :)
