What do you consider GM 1/2 ton axles? Dana 44/14 bolt combo, or Dana 44/10 bolt combo?
I hate to be the one to kill your aspirations, but an early 40 with really inexpensive GM parts is a tough sell. I'd personally rather see something this nice aesthetically kept toyota.

44/10 bolt. Still have upper doors and rear hatch to seal. Aesthetically it is kept though modified. Inexpensive GM parts mean easy/inexpensive parts to find/upgrade unlike the '65 parts it had.. It drives 60 mph nicely on hwy. Though its not perfect I'm not a purist of any kind of vehicle. It is a project that went in many directions, not a ROCK CRAWLER or MUD RUNNER. Its daily drivable, unique body with affordable price. With more potential.

I don't disagree about drivability at all (I've driven stock 40's, and wouldn't go that route for anything other than a beach cruiser that would never see the highway). The truck will be a tough sell on mud' with the drivetrain installed. If you could, or had the desire to do so, I'd put some later model FJ40 or FJ55 axles underneath there. I guarantee you'll get back whatever you put in money-wise.

If I didn’t have a LT1 700r4 fj40 project 1/2 way complete I’d be interested. The corregated top fj40’s are awesome. And I am a big fan of the automatic and a 205! Hang in there. Mud can be rough on non Toyota mods. I think you’d have better luck with some fj40 rims on it.

When I first traded for this last May, the route of full Toyota drive train was looked into, but found it difficult to find what was needed in this area with reasonable price. And I did want it done for this summer. Ive dealt with nothing but jeeps before and everyone has a jeep in this area.

Quick question: Where did you manage to get the weatherstrip for the bifold door?
I can't seem to find them to save my life.
