very very nice i am a complete fan of this rare group of early unmolested character filled landcruisers. in my opinion (based only on photos) this example is in top 3 original 25s beside #58 and #62 in the registry. dare i say too good for a frame off restoration? there are so many molested cruisers deserving of the frame off treatment. i suggest some discreet rust repair, a retrim and thorough mechanical restoration without paint and put the old girl straight back to work. the full body restoration can easily come later if ever required. i am gradually achieving this with my current 64 fj45 project. #30, 32 and 71 in registry are all also very nice based on the single pictures i have seen, and #101 and 111 have restoration plans. i dread a future time when there are no unpainted unmolested and unrestored 25s left to ogle over. do other enthusiests share this sentiment or am i out on a limb?

Hmmm.... You know now that I think about it, in the back of my mind I may have been thinking along the same lines. Might be why I have not been in a real hurry to get started on it.

So maybe, get rid of the bogus tail lights and remains of the snow plow. Fix the rear seal, put the spare tire holder back on, fix the slider windows, defroster hose, tires.....

Mike

the tail lights look OE to me....Unless you are talking about the lights up higher.

Ya, the upper square tail lights that were added on. Thanks, Mike

I've kicked around the idea of replacing the floor on #14 and just leave the rest the way it is. Looks pretty good until you look inside. It sat for years in Northern alifornia with a worn out tarp on it and the floor rusted out.:frown: It was the most stock 25 I picked up. It has spent the last eight years tucked away at my cabin. Still under a tarp but this one is out of the weather and I keep checking on it. I may not be restoring much but that is only because it takes all my free time to keep them from rusting away anymore:rolleyes: I own #13-#16 on the count. I know your going to need to get a FJ25 soft top for your collection. Just remember I'm only a little south of you.

.... have you stopped sleeping in it yet :grinpimp:

We've nestled it off to the side in the shop for the time being. Still noticing small details every day that I had not picked up on before. It gets alot of attention, even from non-cruiser people.

In the near term, I've decided not to do any restoration other than removing things that don't belong and getting it to run right. I'd like to be able to take it here and there safely when I get the itch.

I've got plenty to keep busy on, LV in progress, motor for the 45, and now I can see how to attach the roof vent on my 40.

Thanks, Mike

still lusting over your 25 from across the ocean and equator! love to see it in the flesh; things a bit lonely on the westralian side and the only 25 ive ever seen is my own old wreck haha. there was a thread a few months ago called `Little 25 treasures` that you could easily conquer. wondering if your 25 still has the original KOITO branded headlights? pictures in aforementioned thread. well worth tracking some down for such an original vehicle. i removed the remaining example from my 64fj45 for posterity. they seemed to enlarge the koito script somewhere after 64. your other landcruisers may provide some clues or donor headlights.

Mbradshaw,

Very nice old rig.

I'm on board with some of the others here. It's only original once. Make it safe by servicing the brakes and installing a new set of tires. Replace all the soft parts like vacuum lines and rad hoses. Fix anything else that needs fixing. Clean the heck out of it and then drive it!

Keep the pictures and stories coming!

What a find! I sat here and looked at the pictures and smiled the whole time! :) Thanks for sharing the pictures!

Where'd you find it? Give us the story!
