From my phone conversation with the seller, it was hit on one side at one time so there is bondo on it. The mid bed has some rust. The horse collar xmember has been cut out of the frame. The floor has been cut to fit the previous drive train, which was a Chevy six, mated to the FJ25 transmission, mated to a 3 speed t case. It has 3 bolt fenders. It has a shackle reversal. The axles are of unknown origin. He is wire wheeling the underside and priming this weekend and then reattaching the body to the frame.
The ownership is a bit sketchy but out here, all I need is a bill of sale to register it. The sellers friend is a parole officer and found the 25 at one of his parolee's house after he was re-introduced to the penal system. How it was acquired legally, I'm not clear on. Apparently the parole officer has another '59 FJ25 as well.
The seller is selling because he was just given a '64 FJ40 that was passed down through his family and he's not allowed to sell it. His significant other told him that he can only keep one, so the 25 must go.
I'm still on the fence as well. If it were closer, the decision wouldn't be so hard, but the shipping is killer and not being able to see it in person is tough. He doesn't think its a good candidate for a restoration.
