I drove it to the car wash, as I need to take the thing apart for new gears, locker, longs ect. I swear this guy in a chevy, flipped me off (once he saw it was a guy driving) then swerved like he was going to hit me.

lol.. I swerved back and umm he gave it up... but I did keep an eye over my shoulder while washing it down.

I like to wash off as much shait as possible before takeing something apart.
just bought a power washer so will not have to go to the car wash anymore.

LOL, that is a wild obstical. I did make it...:grinpimp::grinpimp::grinpimp:
but do put a bumper on the rear as in the write up I posted earlier.

WOW! I like where is that rock ledge? That pink is cool too, but I don't think I will be painting my rig those colors any time soon. :princess:

Nice job. Just did mine about three weeks ago on my '89. I took 12 inches off and am happy with results. used sawzall for everything. Came out good. Did some fabing to get the rear All-Pro bumper back on. Still need to finish it off. I'll try to get some pics in later...can't seem to get 'em off the damn phone to computer.

You might have to send the picture to your email (if you have internet access...) That's how I had to do it with my razor.

We cut 19.5 inches out of our '81 longbed. It is a fun mod. I made my buddy who has never done anything cut it off, he was nervous.:)

yeh, after the first one, you lose the fear.... fun to watch their faces when you get everything out of the way, and fire up the saws all... really.. look over at them just as you start to cut!!!

definitely looks like it was a long bed. and if it was, he chopped up the last unrotted long bed in existence. Grrrrr :flipoff2:

The truck that this thread was started about that got the 13" bob.....was that a long bed / long wheelbase truck ?

My truck was a short bed........

Mine is a long bed and it is about to get bobbed also.

Anyone know the length of a stock short bed ? I'd like to cut mine to match the short bed length so I can use camper shells.

HOLY CRUD huge cudos to the original poster. That is a great job. I have done a few including shortening up the wheel base shorter than a standard shortbed wheelbase and bobbing the front and back of my first longbed yota back in the day and tape or not it is hard to be patient enough to cut that straight of lines! I would say half of the ones we tackled we had to use the cut off piece as a backer to fill the gap in the terrible cuts. Again great job!! Now go see if you can knock the bondo out of it on a tree :D. Also somewhere on here I have seen another thread that is all about beds where lots of people posted pics of their beds both flat, bobbed, tube, etc. I think I even posted a pic of my old school camo yota. For the guys that were planning the bob you might look there for more pics

After reading this, I am on the fence to bob her rig, so clean and factory..thinking about 8inches to give enough room to carry stuff and look balanced on a 1988 extra cab?
