Sure thing - Plan is to fit a 12V HJ61 alternator onto the 12HT in my 24V HJ60 rig.

FJota - where did you put your third battery?

Mine is a right hand drive so it will be different then yours. Hope this helps.

If you use a 24V -> 12V converter to charge the 12V battery, how does it know when to stop charging? Does it have a voltage reg built in? I worry that it would be easy to overcharge the battery. Just curious.

Most are constant voltage at 13.8V. Not the fastest charge but it won't overcharge at that value.

I had wondered about that. Was in at the local sparky shop just a bit ago but forgot to ask.

So, there's no problem wiring my voltage reducer direct to a deep cell battery and then run my accessories off the deep cell via a fuse block?

IIRC greg_b talked to the Solar Converter guys and they told him their 24/12V converter was ideal for this application (charging a 12V battery). No need for a charge regulator.

I don't recall the particulars, so hopefully Greg'll see this and post up.

Wouldn't want to run my 12V winch off that circuit.

The 12 V alt was more work, but I don't have to worry about what I run on it.
