12v winch on 24v ?

is it possible to use a 12v winch on my 24v bj42 , i just get a used lp8500 superwinch from my father for free , is the motor going to burn ,its for occasional use , or is there a way to make it work ,some kind of a 24v to 12v converter.

You can take the motor into an alternator shop and they should be able to convert it to 24V

Many run the warn 8274 12V on a 24v truck and it runs just fine but I cannot comment on your particular winch
