Is there a 12 volt Toyota lighter that I can swap for my 24 volt? I want to keep the OEM green lighted ring and I don't want to cut or file the instrument panel.
Maybe from a US 60 series?

I just wired the socket power to my 12v converter. The bulb is on a second circuit because it comes on with the headlights, it can stay 24v.

Thanks Alberto.
To clarify, I want the socket to be 12 V and I figured the lighter coil would not heat properly at that voltage.
The night illumination can be 12 or 24V.
I don't smoke but it is good to be able to light fireworks and such.

I just tried the 24v lighter in my 12v socket. It took almost exactly a minute to pop out. When it did it was hot but wasn't glowing or anything. The only thing I had in the truck to test its comustive abilities on was a dry leaf from the floor. It made it smoke but wouldn't set it on fire.

I'd say get one from a 60 or 80 series.

Or find one from a LJ7 or KZ7 series, they are all 12V and a direct fit.

Joe

JTarnow, Thanks for the investigation. I will go ahead and re-wire the original as you did and work from there.
I think I know where I can borrow a lighter from a 60 to see if that will work.
I'll have to troll around this site for anything from any kind of 70 series Joe.
