I forgot to bring up the 2M frequency question at the last meeting. Any thoughts anyone? Should we just follow NorCal 80's lead with the 146.460?

Is this still on?

I have the day off, and if I can escape the "list", it may work.

Thanks!

What's up with the hundy? Why is it not running?

Jack
APPS, it took a crap in the driveway the day after we got home from DV. Good timing.

I'm liking the 2F better all the time.

I see. How much? Are those located at the pedal? My truck is fully driven by wire, so same kind of sensor.

Jack

When you say your truck is driven by wire you mean a traditional/mechanical cable wire style link between the accelerator pedal and the throttle (or APPS) correct? I am under the impression that when "drive by wire/throttle by wire" is coined it refers to a pure electronic connection between the accelerator pedal and the throttle/throttle control.

Anyway: The APPS is around $270 MSRP and the TPS is around $70 MSRP.

Amamdo (i4c4lo) replied on the TPS thread here on MUD that this, in a pinch, can be reset by pulling the EFI fuse and reinserting or pulling the battery cable for a few moments and reconnecting. https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=188903&page=2

I don't know anything about the 80-series...but it stands to reason the later 80-series model years might utilize a similar/same set-up (APPS & TPS).

The 80 uses a good old fashioned throttle cable and a TPS. Interestingly, I've never heard of a TPS going bad, though I'm sure they do.

We have a late model Toyota with an "APPS" and I don't like the throttle lag you sometimes get, though the Sienna forums say this is normal. Fortunatly it's minor and only a car person would notice.

Still working on Saturday, and may come up to Reno Friday night to be ready for the start and to play with Spressomon's Solaire. Notice I did not say "Dan" since that would not be clear!

I'll be in town on Friday...planning to do the Christmas Tree run on Saturday...just let me know if you want to come to the house Andy on Friday or want me to bring the Solaire to the run on Saturday. If Saturday we could grill something up for lunch ;)...if Friday maybe chops for dinner.

My '99 uses a mechanical link (i.e. stranded wire cable) to connect the pedal to the APPS. I wonder how the 80-series gets around the need for the APPS? As I understand it the APPS "talks" to the TPS which in turn controls the throttle itself (?). Rusty?

Sorry I missed this post before.

I don't know much about how the ECU uses the signals generated by all these sensors.
I would guess the TPS/APPS sensors some how tell computer how much or when to open the injectors for maximum fuel burn/ minimum emissions.

I have much to learn about newer engines. And older ones, I can barely keep the tractor engine in the 40 running:lol:.

As far as my truck it is fully driven by wire. There is no cable going from the pedal to the motor. Just sensors and voodoo magic.:D

The 80's are more like their same era engines, simple pedal hooked to a cable that hooks to the throttle body. Then it's a typical TPS type system. No APPS that I know of.
