Yeah, I have never used one myself. Maybe we should do something else.

I'll be joining for the weekend, Nick and I are going to cruise up early Thursday morning, so we'll see you up there!

Excellent!

Sorry I had to leave the meeting early. Daniel crashed my ebike and had a headache so my wife took him to the hospital. CT was negative for issues so they treated his abrasions, of which he has some good ones, and sent him home. He is sore but otherwise Ok. My ebike is not exactly slow, or stock, and so crashing on it can hurt. Being the daredevil he is he got a taste of what crashing is like in real life vs. from me which he tends to tune out. I ordered him a new helmet as his died for his sins doing its job.

Anyway, I am planning to do some shooting. I will fix my bike and bring it. I think I mentioned it in the intro but if anyone just wants to get there, go for it, I will be in my 60 and wife towing so we will be cruising slow lane style. If you want to meet us somewhere north for a rolling start let us know, we can connect on the radio. Otherwise let's meet at the 76/15 park and ride 730AM. Let's try to be wheels up by 8. That should get us to Bishop around 2:30-3. After shopping, gassing, and airing down we should be climbing by 4 and at camp by 5-5:30ish.

Frank

Good you left early to care for your son. Much more important than what we did last night. Glad to hear Daniel is okay.

I'm further north of your meet up spot. I'll be coming out of the East on Temecula Pkwy. There is a Jack in the box and Shell gas station at the end of Temecula Pkwy on the West side of the 15. Large parking area at the dead end too. I'll fuel up there and hang out until the rest of the group heads north. Meet me there or I'll just try and merge with y'all on the 15 as you cruise by.

Hey y'all. I am coming from Ventura, and I'll plan to be in Bishop by 2:30. Do we have a meeting spot?
This gas station is about the last stop before we turn off to head out of town, and it has the best gas prices in town, clean bathrooms, etc. It's also large and easy to get in and out of.
Could I meet up with the crew there? I'll be in my blue 1996 TLC with a couple gas cans on the roof rack. My cell is 805/290-0794.
Thanks,
Russ

Typically, we head to the Vons on the north side of town to shop and get gas. It's a big parking lot so can handle a group and has everything in one spot.

I would say either meet at the Vons or at the air down spot at the beginning of the trail. The spot is on Coyote Valley Rd by this electrical substation.

Sounds good. I'll plan to meet up with you guys at the Vons. I'll plan to be there by 2:30. Thanks again.

Cool, I sent you my number. We should be there around then but sometimes tiny bladders in the kids and my 60 mean more stops... you know how it goes. I will let you know if we get overly delayed.

Frank

Sounds good, Frank! Glad Daniel is alright. We are planning to leave a bit early on Thursday, around 5am so the kids can sleep a bit. We will likely be taking a number of breaks along the way with young kids, but will plan to meet at the Vons in Bishop. Ill bring some guns and ammo (as long as I have room in the Cruiser....)

I'm still a remote maybe. Still in my mind but I may not be able to swing it this time.

What is the weather looking like?

How do you deal with bears with all that cooking? We stayed in Kennedy Meadows at the southern end of the Sierra Nevadas one night and had a bear in camp every couple hours. Granted the campground didn't have bear boxes and I am sure people were sloppy with cleaning up and keeping stuff put away. We had zero issues at the Lake Sabrina campground the next couple nights which in the same general area as Coyote Plateau.

Just a heads up, my Brother-in-Law was just up there this past weekend and he said it was pretty buggy, so you might want to make sure and bring your Thermacell and or bug spray.

Grrrreeeeatttttt....

I just spent the week at Courtright Reservoir (on the other side of the Sierras). Temps overnight dipped into the 37-38 degree range each night (8100 feet of elevation).

Guessing that the 10k feet where the usual spot is might be a bit cooler. Wish we could make it, but it isn't in the cards this year.

Do you know where he camped? For example, Baker is usually buggy. Funnel less so. Where we are has yet to be buggy but you never know.

I was checking the weather this morning. Where we camp is usually 4-5 degF warmer than the Funnel Lake forecast.
