Yeah, I have never used one myself. Maybe we should do something else.Me, my brother and friend Scott will be coming. Total 3. Plan to participate in dinners, but not sure of Dutch oven, don’t even have one.
Typically, we head to the Vons on the north side of town to shop and get gas. It's a big parking lot so can handle a group and has everything in one spot.Hey y'all. I am coming from Ventura, and I'll plan to be in Bishop by 2:30. Do we have a meeting spot?
This gas station is about the last stop before we turn off to head out of town, and it has the best gas prices in town, clean bathrooms, etc. It's also large and easy to get in and out of.
Could I meet up with the crew there? I'll be in my blue 1996 TLC with a couple gas cans on the roof rack. My cell is 805/290-0794.![]()

Sounds good. I'll plan to meet up with you guys at the Vons. I'll plan to be there by 2:30. Thanks again.Typically, we head to the Vons on the north side of town to shop and get gas. It's a big parking lot so can handle a group and has everything in one spot.
I would say either meet at the Vons or at the air down spot at the beginning of the trail. The spot is on Coyote Valley Rd by this electrical substation.

Grrrreeeeatttttt....Just a heads up, my Brother-in-Law was just up there this past weekend and he said it was pretty buggy, so you might want to make sure and bring your Thermacell and or bug spray.
Do you know where he camped? For example, Baker is usually buggy. Funnel less so. Where we are has yet to be buggy but you never know.Just a heads up, my Brother-in-Law was just up there this past weekend and he said it was pretty buggy, so you might want to make sure and bring your Thermacell and or bug spray.
I just spent the week at Courtright Reservoir (on the other side of the Sierras). Temps overnight dipped into the 37-38 degree range each night (8100 feet of elevation).
Guessing that the 10k feet where the usual spot is might be a bit cooler. Wish we could make it, but it isn't in the cards this year.
