100 too stiff after OME medium lift

I have the 60000 and 60002 sport shocks that came w the medium load kit, including UCAs, diff drop, and OME torsion bars. Rear springs are OME 2860s, IIRC. It was a complete kit.
It was installed about a month ago

Mine bounces on anything less than perfect road conditions. It soaks up the big pot holes very well, just rough going over small bumps/holes.

Lets put it this way, it feels stiffer, bouncier, springier than my 10k+ pound diesel truck. I would compare it to race car suspension.

I've put a few hundred thousand miles on my diesel and would have to agree w you. I truly can't see a winch and bumper smoothing things out. The good news, it's fixable. The bad news, not sure which way to go. I'm all ears for a way to regain my smooth ride and retain a little lift. I hate to think it, but perhaps I'll end up back factory, not sure. I'm hoping other folks that have been down this road and found a remedy will chime in.

I installed OME t-bars, 865 rear springs, and nitrocharger sport shocks in the rear. My front shocks were a set of relatively new Gabriels so I left them on. After the lift the ride was way to stiff for me but it was all due the OME shocks in the rear. After about 3000 miles I put on a set of Fox 2.0's in the rear and the smooth ride was back. It isn't the right setup if you are looking for max suspension travel but the ride is as good or better than in my dad's stock '06 LC.

It all got started when I knew the rear shocks needed replacing. They were so cushy, my 250 lbs could step hard on the rear hitch and easily bounce it 6 inches up and down. To me, that meant something was truly worn out. I might be able to get an inch of up and down on the rear if I aggresively try to move it now.

Cold wiz. Thanks for the info. I respect everyone's ideas and opinions and am so thankful for a website such as Mud where we can collectively get to the bottom of common and not so common issues we have w our rigs.

SmoothLC. Are you lifted with OEM shocks? Thanks

No, running OME Nitrochargers on all four corners. While the OME set up is stiffer vs. OEM, I much prefer the stability in cornering vs. OEM shocks.

On newly paved roads, I'd have to agree w you. I think my cruiser would hang w a sports sedan around a curve, until it rolled. I live in the country w decent roads. Every single morning on my way to work I have no choice but to hold my coffee or else. Before the lift, I held my coffee only when I was drinking it. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I just figured a medium OME on a 100 w 33s would certainly ride better than an 80 w a heavy OME and 35s in 10 ply. I take full blame for it. I made the purchase.

OME 865 rear springs coupled with adjusted factory torsion bars and new Toyota shocks result in a very factory ride. I've had this setup on my daily for a couple of years and wouldn't change a thing.

Ltrain, thanks for your input. That's good to know. Do the 865 springs net the same lift as the 860s?

If you want a soft ride, go with Fox 2.0's on all 4 corners. I'm running Slee heavies plus OME torsion bars and my rig is comfy.

I'm not sure but here's a picture for reference. It's not super tall but I like it...

Great info fellas. I appreciate the pictures too. Nice cruiser! Looks like a great place to be. SanDiego, could you share a pic of your set up?

Thank you. Flew out to denver for that one. It was worth it. Bought it off Mud. 01-2013. It was well equipped. I just had to add M12000 to the ARB and none less than Slee rear w carrier /ladder combo. I dig the color of your LX. Got a soft spot for charcoal grey.

Here are a few photos of my 99 100.

Same here. Just lift it using the springs and you be fine. However, this is not the setup for a primarily off-road car.

OME shocks are a bit stiff. I have the Fox' on now and they are much softer....to the point of being too soft for the weight in my rig.

I really think that is your issue. When I built one of my first 100's I went with the same set up as you have. The difference after install was huge. Very firm ride. Fast forward to bumpers, slider, winch and a storage box and things were much better.
