there are some things I do not like about the 100 series, some it it truely minor when looked at as a whole vehicle.
as shallow as this sounds I do not like the looks the looks of a 100 series, (LX 470's look slightly better) 80 seies is a good looking vehicle.
The IFS/torsion bar front is just fine at stock heights but causes complication and expense for lift, articulation is not what it could be.
you have to remove the intake manifod to change the starter.
why bother going to 5 lug wheels? every other toyota truck has 6 lugs why did they retool and switch to 5?.
the price, but that can be said at every age bracket for a Land Cruiser, this is the leading edge and the most expensive bracket.

some things that a 100 has over an 80,
AFAIK no HG problems as of yet,
newer and on average less miles,
some nice interior/comfort ammenities
seams to have more space inside

if you want a driver and mild wheeler you really cannot go wrong with a 100. an 80 can fill that same role quite well also though. I am proof that you do not have to use all of an 80's abilites to enjoy it.

I wonder if you can drop an LX470 body onto a turbo diesel 105 frame?

If I could put the comfy heated seats from my LX470 into my LX450, I would be in heaven. Those seats are very comfortable.

Would probably be easier to just swap the headlights, hood, tail lights and tail gate. ;)

Well here are 5 reasons why that I found in about 2 minutes.

Seems like there is still valid exchange going on here that still interests those not too busy patting themselves on the back for having already made the comparisons. If it does not interest you beyond posting rude messages about why I am flogging a dead mammal why do you waste more time pointing out what to you is obvious?

love and kisses

hmm what about the leather, power winders/locks, carpet, soundprrofing, body cladding, navagation, wood grain, and dont forget the sttering wheel on the wrong side,

was the 105 ever sold LHD?

Johnny, you are not being asked to search because somebody wants to "pat themselves on the back and be rude" but instead because these things are already hashed out, a fith,10, 20th etc discussion on a subject often will not yield you much in reply, those who have typed the same thing over and over again are not as likely to do so this time, I have never gotten into the 100vs80 so it is new to me, but those who truly have the data you are looking for are less likely to reply, or if they do it will be terse.

A better plan of action on your part is to review the old threads and post up any questions you have based on what you now know and I think you will find what you are looking for much more efficiently for all of us.

The very thread title choice should warn away any party annoyed by the subject. I really only wanted input from those enthusiastic about Land Cruisers. I have indeed done alot of reading here which includes some of the past referenced threads. I never intended to wake up angry people. I thought this was a place where people who enjoyed Land Cruisers came to exchange ideas and information. I understand that some wont come out to play because this issue has been threaded but those old blue meanies are just the type I wanted to avoid. I am happy. I enjoy life. I absolutely LOVE my FJ62 and I plan to purchase another. I am TRULY sorry to have annoyed people but jeez.....move along if you wish not to participate.

I'm not annoyed....just showing that there is more info already here. It is the same reason there are not 500 copies of the same encyclopedia in a library.

Want to see annoyed?...search "FSIMIG"...:D

And...Reffug and I are "people who enjoy Land Cruisers" no worries.

Ah, I thought you just wanted the "look."

Yes, the 105 did come in LHD. As you can, most of the world is LHD (right driving).

That is a handy map, thanks for posting it.

for some reason I thought more of the world was RHD (Left side fo road driving)

Some of those orange areas are heavily populated including India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Japan. So by population, 1/3 of the world is RHD (drives on left).

Some kinda interesting history about L/RHD:
http://users.pandora.be/worldstandards/driving on the left.htm

Given that country list, excluding Japan, you'd make a better claim saying that 1/3 of the world doesn't drive...

That's a good point. They should be counting drivers and not population.

Rookies should be seen and not heard...

From one rookie to another Johnnie4ever, these folks can answer your questions or they can ignore any other post you ever care to write. Can't we all just get along?

Well ...holy late entry. One would think, since you seem to be referencing one of my earlier posts, that you would have also seen my no worries post. Perhaps by virtue of your extreme(7 post)rookie status you are not hip to this threads entire history. I suggest that you take the same advice the veterans gave me and read this thread entirely before flogging the "roadkill dillo"

In other words "ahhhhhhhhhhh shadddddddup".

Note: Real anger would be puntuated with lots of misplaced exclaimation points.

Kisses
