100 series rear diff on a 40 series

has anyone placed a 100 series rear axel on a 40 series? what is the difference in wide between the 80 series and the 100 series axel and the location of differential. i know that putting an 80 series axel on a 40 series will offset the differential by about 3 inches, will the 100 series do the same. i am trying to widen the track of my 40 series and i am exploring different options. i want to find out if a 100 series will work. thanks

Im putting a 105 series ff rear diff under my 79 series ute atm, the top bar diff mounts are the same width on the 105 series and 80series ff rears
For all track width try redbook.com.au just pick all std models as there width is taking with cheese cutter tyres
If you want to keep the coils ...i have been looking between my 105 diff i just bought and my dads uzj100 and brothers fzj80 what i noticed with the uzj100 rear diff top bar mounts is that they dont run parallel with the chassis as do the 80 and 105 so im not sure were you are or what you can get hold of as far as diffs go but i think you would be better of with a 80 series diff so you have 6 wheels studs all around as well
If you want leafs on wider diffs....this is what it would look like with 105 series diffs under a 4x series but he kept the left sprung suspention this ute was for sale on ebay a while ago
the front fenders are after mkt and wider the rear needs the flares

if you're going to use a US spec 100 series axle, you are gonna end up with a mixture of 5 lug wheels on the back and 6 lug on the front. As mentioned in some of the other threads...if you really want wide, go dana 60 or get a custom housing and then custom shafts.

The 100's also have strange r&p ratios. 98-99 had 4.3. 2000+ have 3.7? The 105's are not available in the U.S. the 100's here all have IFS. It's be cool to see a ifs swap onto a 40. But 80series 94-97 with factory lockers is probly what you should use.

Putting Fj60/62 axles under a 40 is pretty easy and gains you 3 inches of width.

How much width are your really trying to gain? Using 100 series parts is a problem because of the 5 lug pattern of the hub studs.

It would make more sense to use a 60 series or 80 series rear axle and keep the 6 stud wheels.

I don't see any advantage to using a 100 series rear in anything but a 100 series.

1998-2002: 4.30 r&p; 2003-2007: 4.10 r&p.

There is not as much offset on the 100 as 40. Also 98-02 use 4.30 gears which are not available for the fj40 front. 03+ are 4.10, and any can be re-geared to 4.88 now. But another big one is that they are 5x150mm lug pattern
