As Aaron said, there is leather in the areas you touch and high quality perfect color match vinyl on the sides. The center console and armrest covers he threw in for around $40 IIRC (it has been a while) when I ordered the front seats. I cannot stress to you enough to just call him. I know in the online world we live in that sounds odd, but he can explain everything including custom work. Great guy, and he makes all of his stuff in house in Blacksburg, VA. He has been doing automotive upholstery for decades, from commercial vans to custom hotrods.

Hey thanks! I forgot you had done a review. Kudos.
For sure...I think when it comes to making sense of cheap seats covers, quality covers, or full leather replacement, it totally depends on your long term goals and use case.....At first I knew I wanted to recover the leather but then I lived with the new stuff paranoia, like not wanting to **** it up or get mud or spill anything ( plus the dog tearing it up ) So in the long run the better choice for me was a seat cover but I didn't want a cheapy Amazon one-size fits all. CalTrend makes a really nice fitting Cordura cover . I use it in my GX470 as well.

All that being said, to your original question if you are thinking about full leather replacement I believe LCH has the best quality leather...When it comes to slip on covers my vote is for Caltrend

I just installed this cover from E-bay. US-made with US-made (well, from US cows) leather. $160. I only did the seat bottom, which cracked (first pix).

The leather has a fairly prominent 'elephant hide' grain, which is fine with me. The leather feels very stout and the cover fit nicely and is padded internally. Color match is close but not exact. I steamed my foam (also in great shape for 349K miles). The seat sits a tad higher now.

I liked the price point of the cover and have used E-bay leather covers on other vehicles with good success.

First pix is 'before'. The result looks great, I think. Time will tell how it holds up.
