Hi folks,

My 100 series heater I've noticed feels like it's windscreen output is lacking, it will come out, but anything less than 4 out of 5 on the power won't produce anything decent out the windscreen vents.

It will then take ages to demist, and often AC is required even once I've been driving a while to keep it from fogging up.

I noticed recently when start/stop in traffic, when it was on max power without AC, the revs were increasing the motor speed.

This change of revs/motor speed isn't all the time, quite hard to get it to repeat this.

I've also noticed my drivers side (RHD) window is fogged up when not in use, and the car smells a tad damp at the moment too.

I can't feel any obvious moisture in the carpet anywhere, the windscreen isn't leaking either.

I've read that heater matrix leaking/failing can cause the fogging issue, where would it leak from/how can I test this theory?

Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

All I can tell you is that on mine, 1,2,3 on the fan are inaudible (but working) and 4 and 5 blow as expected. It's been like that the whole time I've owned it and it hasn't gotten any worse.

Edit: My fan actually has 4 settings not 5 so 1 and 2 inaudible, 3 and 4 I can hear.

Check the blower filter. It may be clogged.

It doesn't have a cabin filter I don't think, but I've seen some on other vehicles with loads of leaves in there if that's what you mean?

Correct! you can lower the blower motor and using a mirror, check the surface of the AC evaporator. When I bought mine, it had about a half a cm thick dust later only exposing about 50% of the evaporator surface for air to pass through. You should have a removable door that used to install the cabin air filter. Remove that door and using compressed air and moisture/water spray, carefully remove the dirt and grime. I did it and the air flow is perfect now! .
