The project:
1. Disassemble vehicle, remove doors, tailgate and hatch.
2. Strip paint to bare metal.
3. Remove doors, hatch and tailgate.
4. Close all holes in rocker panels from trim.
5. Remove seam sealer in roof gutters, and windshield area, repair any rust, seal again.
6. New lower door skin replacement panels. Sand blast remaining rust, seal bare metal and new seam sealer.
7. New quarter panels and any rusted sections of inner fenders.
8. New doglegs and rear section of rockers.
9. Replace A pillar gutter sections.
10. Remove drivers quarter panel (the entire back half) from previous accident.
11. Exterior paint, B/C, wet sand, and polish.
12. Installation of Cascade Audio vibration dampening package.

It looks pretty good and quite straight actually, and the previous owners painted it matte black. Once the coatings were removed, it was obvious that this one was previously crashed and beat up in various places.

This entire area with the X's will be replaced. A call into Classic Cruisers has been made to get a partial used quarter panel. There was about 1/2" thick or more filler in one area. I can straighten this one, but it's not worth the time. Best to start off with something that doesn't resemble a potato chip

I started on the doors and It has the typical lower rust. These looked really clean until I stripped away the seam sealer. I have been making smaller patches for these areas and I like how it turns out. If the rust is not creeping up too high then this works perfectly. These 2 doors turned out really nice and straight.
Dynamat was in my way, so that was fun.

That's what my front left fender is like. The front part of it got smunched and it looks like someone banged it back out with a hammer and filled it in with bondo. I have another replacement fender but it has some more rust, not really rot but little rust bubbles starting in the seams etc. The replacement fender is the "G" type with no vent and the original has the vent so not sure how I will combine them together to make a good one. Not sure what the difference is between the G trim level versus the regular one.

Rear doors have rust all the way up the wheel arch. I will be replacing that whole piece.

Great work! Wish I was skilled enough to replace my slowly rusting quarter panels., I can't even find a shop around here that will do it

No, and actually this late 89 62 has seam sealer on the exterior edge of the quarter panels. This has saved your quarters. I have peeled away a couple places and found no rust.

Doors are in primer and bodywork is done.

Block sanding Super Build primer. Once complete, I will spray urethane primer and block sand that too. I need to start working on the fenders and quarters next, but it's good to have the doors done and out of the way.

My advise: Don't shoot Land Cruisers, even if a "bad guy" is in there. Looked like 45 size hole, so I checked for fun. Yep, it's a fit! There are two of these holes that I have found.

No, it’s in the tailgate jamb. My guess is someone was handling their gun on the tailgate and it went of, twice. That’s what it looks like to me
