Hi all
starting a list to go wheeling to The Cliff on 10/30 @ 10:00 am

1) Leandro - LX470

Gumby is our resident negative Nancy.... though he is no longer a resident of IL.

Having said that.... I will also choose to continue to avoid The Cliffs. The years I spent wheeling that place was enough punishment to my poor truck.

Is it really that bad? i've never been there. there has to be some easy trails....

That place is great if you like deep mud, winching, wrenching on broken trucks in said deep mud and bouncing off trees on muddy trails.

Yes it can be gnarly when wet, but ultimately it's up to the driver to limit the risks... been there and when sunny it was fun and no I didn't brake anything.

Oh, that place is fine. You just don't want to go after a heavy rain. I can show you around. I'm not scared of it like these other guys.

It's not wheeling. It's just sliding in ruts. You're just along for the ride. Unless you got swampers on that LX....no, wait, I got swampers and I wouldn't go there.

Seriously, don't fxxx up your truck. Buy a cheap Xj and destroy it. No 470 deserves going to the cliffs. It will never ever be mud free again in the very best of experiences. your running boards won't get out of the parking lot even with that fancy snorkel. I wish I still had the pic of the bent connecting rod from when one of my students went in an innocent looking mud hole on trail 1.

go to the badlands. It's really not that much further.

You know what? Never mind. Go have fun. Everybodies gotta learn to hate the cliffs themselves.

ok, i'm new to the brand, so i have no previous experience. But i see TLC crossing africa, conquering australia, and rated as the most dependable vehicles and top choice for overlanding, but they break at the Cliff?. I paid a fair amount of money for it...

Ha ha hahahaha. Let me know how that works out with all your broken glass and generally fxxxed truck afterwards. Just because you paid to to ******* moon for something doesn't mean it's own s*** doesn't stink. Tell me about all the "overlanding" there is in Illinois and let me tell you those corn fields are pretty fxxxin fierce.

Honestly, we are trying to keep it nice for you. I am one of the originals who spent an entire winter out there cutting all of the trails back in '03/'04, and I don't even go there and more. It takes brutal to a new level. Exo cage or not, I destroyed 3 rigs wheeling that park every month for the first couple years it was open. Difficulty goes from ambulance access road, to winching on your side. There's not much on the middle, because We didn't cut anything in the middle. If you have never been there, hold off and go in the summer with someone to show you around and it's dry.

It's nothing like an African safari over there.
