Hmmmm, new Tacoma has a 6 speed... price for a new one is not as bad I as thought it would be... low $2k range w/ discount. Sillyness, or fun for the guys at the machine shop? discuss.... :flipoff2:

Oh, sure, go ahead and dare me... :D

CJF, there were no manual transmissions installed in USA spec 80 series.... they all have 4 speed automatics. Some foreign markets received a five speed... The new Tacoma transmission is a 6 speed manual.

Will the Tacoma 6 speed become to the 80 what the H55F has become for the 60 and 40 series guys???

The first thing to do would be to research the gear ratios on the manual tranny. See if they are even close to where we'd want them to be.

I imagine that a series of adapters would be needed, but that would be very kewl.

I think a manual transmission will ruin the silky smoothness of the 80! Just my opinion, but i personally love wheelin' with an automatic; no pedal juggling on offcamber or crazy positions.

I usually have three manuals. Owners, service and electrical wiring......... :D
