OK 100 owners, let's go! For those of you who have or are in the process of building a 100 for off-road or expedition use, please post your request for a NEW or REVISED product/accessory for the 100-series Land Cruiser that you desire. At the thread's end I'd like to email the link to the various sources (manufacturers...i.e. ARB, etc.) for their consideration. Please rate your desired product/accessory on a 1-10 scale as to how important it is to you.

Here's my 2 remaining desires:

1. 4.88 gears. We have the front gear now (same as an 80) but nobody is sourcing a rear gear. With large tires and all the accessories on the truck this is an "11" on the 1-10 scale. (Ooops, I broke the rule already. OK, a "10") :)

2. L-series rear shocks. With the limited front travel on the 100 the rear picks up the slack. If we had 2-inch longer shocks I believe the improvement would suffice to buy the new shocks ASAP. Rating: 9

new controll arms?

but maybe I am mistakin but doesn't Slee's 100 have 4.88 gears in it?

Tecnically no. With his resources he retro-fitted an 80 pumpkin into the 100 and it cost BUCKS. This is also a step backwards however. By putting a 80 R&P in you give up strength. Toyota beefed up the rear R&P on the 100 probably to accomodate the added power, torque and weight. I will wait for a proper sized "100 gear" rather than taking the step backwards in durability (even though the 80 gear MIGHT hold up).

There is NO shock company out there that sells a 2" longer shock? What about the shocks for the 80 lifts? If it is only a matter of bolt size/bushing size, I do not see the issue. Are you stating that the OME N101 does not compensate for the 2" of lift given by the 865's?

I meant 2-inch longer travel shocks. Sorry.

I spoke with Ben at Slee and he said I could probably use L-series 80 shocks by changing the bushings though he also noted the valving might be different. So, I didn't try it. If Mr. Slee would send me 2 L-series 80 shocks with 100 bushing's I'd install and report back. (Mr. Slee? Is that possible?) Before doing this though it might be a good idea to measure a 100 shock vs the L-series 80 for overall length/travel in the first place? I'm sure the L-series are longer because I see the diff in my vehicles.

I have the shock specs at home, try to post them latter.

I'm just getting started. I have an OME lift on the way as well as a 2nd set of alloys for my AT KO's.

how 'bout heavier duty control arms and skid plates? there are lots of tree trunks and rocks in the woods I travel.

this is SO easy.

SFA for the lame front suspension(at least a 12!)

turbocharger, for a weak stock V8 (definitely above 10)

FR & RR fully selectable e-lockers

Oh, wait - I don't have to wait or wish - I'll go back over to the 80's now...

Damn clown, you are too funny

Ah, just poking fun at Mr. Shotts - an easy target.

Of course there's a bunch of truth to my post. I'd sell every vehicle and the contents of my garage to have a new UZJ-100 series on two live axles w/ e-lockers, the VVT-i V8 w/ APS's turbocharger, and a 6-speed manual.

Now where is THAT truck?

SLURP!

I want 4.56:1 gear and custom upper and lower ball joint to acomodate longer travel. Custom shock hoops for longer front shock and coil over. I am still worried about the axle and the steering linkage or damaging the steering rack though.

That is pretty short list since the rest would be custom made by me anyway when I got the time to build it. I still have to build sliders, sub tank, skidplate, front and rear bumper.

Eventually, gears to run 35 inch tires.

Now, a real skid plate to replace the composite one Toyota uses under the engine. I haven't "tested" the front metal skid plate, but I'd imagine it could be improved also.

4.56 is a match for the 5-spd tranny w'35's
4.88 is the match for the 4-spd.

And that front plate. I MANGLED MINE, but you should have seen what I hit! :)

Couple of things.

1) Suspension - right now, I'm planning Sway-Away torsion bars in front and medium OME coils in back. Shocks may be 2.0 or 2.5 Racerunner front and 2.0 or 2.5 Racerunner rear. Custom valving. Not decided on resevoirs or not. Might approach Camburg or Demello off road to do the work, not sure yet... Time frame is 2005.

2) Skid plate, rock sliders, bumpers - Planning to have Demello Off-Road work up a bitching skid plate (similar to the one for the Tacoma), some hybrid square/round sliders, and hybrid bumpers. Skid plates would be much cheaper if they were done in a batch (hint hint). Time frame is 2006.

I was told by a reliable source that Bilstein will offer there 5100 series shocks for the 100 series before the end of the year. These will be for 1-2" lift applications. Basically, an aquantence called a friend over there and talked to them and this is what he told me.

Gears are definitely needed before I consider running 35's...

Regarding the custom set-ups such as longer arms, coilovers, etc. These things cost big dollars, as much as $10-20 thousand could easily go into a custom set-up. Nobody is going to make a bolt-on kit for this application due to very low volume sales. Travel can be limited with stops and straps and such to make sure not to damage components. Unless you are planning on pre-running the Baja, don't even consider a long travel set up.

So how many people want to do a group buy on a skid plate similar to this one?

I'd be interested in the plate

Me too. Any guesstimate on cost? What's the weight on that thing? It is steel I presume (not aluminum)

Tehcnicall Yes, It was not really a step backwards. We retained the 32 spline axles. The 100 Series Ring gear is not bigger in terms of OD, It is slightly bigger in terms of gear width. See attached picture. The 80 ring gear bolts though with bolts and nuts on the flange, whereas the 100 series bolt into the gear.

80 gears on left, 100 gear on right. In both cases from a open carrier.

I am also interested in the skid plate. Price, materials?

I knew that was coming. :flipoff2:
