wondering if anyone knows what factory caster angle is on a 40. Also when doing a spoa do you maintain factory caster by rotating to the correct angle exactly or do you increase negative or positive caster for any benefit.

factory is +1

bigger tires like bigger caster, within reason, usually +3 to +5 or so.

to get proper caster and proper pinion angles with the SOA, cutting/turning the knuckles is a must...generally, put +4 in the knuckles and rogate the housing 10-12....total of 14-16.

hey woody ' I'm having a problem with wobble trying to figure it out running 38's on 2-1/4" backspacing w a kong's hysteer setup(oneton tre's) and a rancho stabilizer.Considering 4xlabs arms becase of their length (leverage) on the knuckles. Is my backspacing too much?

i would be interested in this also . when i did my cut and turn .and did a test run i had huge wobble running 38.5 also . i went around the block and threw the steering stabalizer on and problem was gone .just curious if this has to do with the caster change .or just big tires .

Likely, somethings not quite right with the balance, caster, or toe....I always ran a stablizer tho too to mask the issues.

38's are hard to balance...period. Expecially if you use them hard.

2" backspacing with my rig, 3 different histeers, no problems....but I spent a lot of time working the toe. For some reason, big tires seem to like not only more caster (+4 or so) but also a bit more toe in....Also, double/triple check your trunion bearings and don't be afraid to re-torque those steering arms before every day on the trail. I keep a 14mm on my torque wrench at all times, and use it every morning in camp.

I second what woody said. I had big time wobble issues with 35s and tried everything under the sun to fix them. Turned out my kuckle bearing preload was around 8lbs. I re shimmed and moved preload up to around 11lbs and presto; it was fixed.
