Finally took her out...

trailtrailer.jpe

Needs shocks, more supplies, and the roof finished/painted... but overall, it kicks ass, towed nice (except for the pintle "clank", but got used to that)

Overall, it rules! It was nice to bring whatever I wanted!

:D

Nice crusher! ...and trailer

Thanks!

I am assing alot of cool stuff to it in the coming weeks... I must say that with 4 adults in the Cruiser, and all our gear in the trailer.. it was very comfortable and relaxing! Not having to empty out the Cruiser to go wheeling, and being able to take alot of things that I usually wouldn't on a short camping trip...

More pics to come as I get some new stuff finished.... :D

Thats cool Kurt. You could put a pony keg in the trailer and run the tap up to the cruiser (JK).

Thought about that... but the tap would be inside of the fuel door... gotta lock that stuff up... :D

VERY sharp...considered that type of setup a few times myself...

nice work

HOLY s***, take lots of pics......haven't seen anyone ASS cool stuff into a trailer before.

JK.

Good Work dude.

Couldn't you have just gotten a wagon? :D
Seriously, though, cool trailer.

Nope, topless is mandatory... Plus the whole idea of unhitch/hitch... no loading/unloading when I get home, want to go wheeling without a cooler full of food, etc... Chain it up to a tree at camp and enjoy a LIGHT ride... :D ;)

I am adding the following soon...

A stainless steel food prep area (stores inside when not in use)
BBQ holder (so you operate the BBQ at waste level rather than the ground)
A garbage bag holder, make it clear where the trash goes...
Lighting
Mabey a stereo system, something that sounds good around camp...
Fuel/water can storage, probably on the front tongue...

Got a sample photo of stainless steel prep table?

I have a M416 trailer and I'm not sure whether to use a smaller version of redwood table or alum or stainless steel, all in same proportional as the trailer box but one inches smaller overall so it can slide or slip in.

That is really cool!

Makes me want to sell my 80, get a 40 and make a trailer. Not that I could...

Good Job

Not yet, it is still in the works... size will be approx. 14" deep and ~3' wide. I am making it "hang" over the tub lip of the trailer, that way, when not in use, it flips 180* and is stored in the trailer... the BBQ holder (and possible garbage bag holder) will be very similar.

A table is also something I am thinking of adding to the trailer, not integrated, just a good camp table... I need to look at our local retailers, see what is available, of there isn't anything I like, I will make my own (not really interested in making a table).

Anyone have brand/model of table they prefer?

Do it... ;)

Best looking trailer I've seen to date. I wish I could do similar, but my talents lie well outside of the DIY Cruiser arena. I have a 416 I am trying to make presentable...maybe I can monkey some of your improvements into it. Looking forward to coming mods...

Thanks for the kind words!

I'm looking forward to adding some cool things... :D

After several trips (4) with the trail trailer... I can already start to see the changes that need to be made...

Storage - With a cargo area bigger than the back of my 40... I am STILL out of room, mostly because of all the misc items I now keep stored in the trailer... I am going to add a roof rack to the top of the trailer, this could be used for things that can get wet (chairs, tables, etc)

Power - I need to finalize the electrical situtation and run power to the trailer (and possibly install a battery). You can have all the goods in the world, but they do you no good if you can't use them... Adding a couple lights to the top (I have the lights) will make things much more comfortable... no more trying to hold the flashlight in my mouth.

Things I carry in the "Trail Trailer"

Propane
Water (about 20 bottles & 5 gallon jug)
6' x 3' folding camp table
2' x 2' portable camp table
4 folding campchairs
4 sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, etc
BBQ
10'x10' Tarp
Tool Bag
Spare Parts Bag
Knapking dispenser
Toilet Paper
Food box (full of paper products, utinsils, pots, pans, spices, seasonings, etc)
Cooler
Tent
Tons of other misc junk...

So the only things I carry in my Cruiser are the recovery bag, tow strap, lug wrench and the air hose... :D

This winter is going to see alot of mods to the trail trailer :D
