Saw this 55 in the paper on Thursday, looked at it on Friday, purchased on Saturday. I just had to bring it home, its a keeper!!!!

Some Specs:

'72 FJ55
Rebuilt F engine
Rebuilt 3 spd
Rebuilt Transfercase
Some kind of Man-a-fre add-a-leaf shackle lift
Receipts indicate an Aussie 40 front disc brake conversion
no front seatbelts!!! (any suggestions???)
I think American Racing wheels?
265 BFG ATs
Ignition on the left side of the steering wheel? Is that stock?
various other quirks...

Interior is in pretty good shape. Exterior in suprisingly good shape, This 55 has only been in Hawaii for 4 months. It came from LA so rust is surprisingly minimal. I haven't finished totaling all the receipts but it has had approximately $8-9000 worth of work done to it in the last 5 years. Most interesting was that alot of the work was done at TLC in Van Nuys.
I am keeping this thing FOREVER!! There are some items that will need to be worked through but its all part of the fun. The purchase was contingent upon the agreement with the boss that I would sell off the motorcyle. I have barely had the KLR for two months so I'm not that attached...
I think that the price was in the ballpark for the condition that it was in based on the quick research I did on Mud. Thanks for the input!!! Probably would have been slightly cheaper on the mainland, but it is/was a CA vehicle.

Future plans:
Get back to the mainland
Diesel swap
5spd

nice rig; wasn't that "Chen's" old truck?........looked to be in very good shape; had been listed a couple of times on ebay last year or so if it is the same truck........don't know how much you paid but it is a lovely piggy:cheers:

matty_s: only about 3 weeks :flipoff2:

n2666s: if you mean J. Chen then yes, his name was on the title. Does that mean it was in good hands?

Wowie, that's one of the nicest 55's I've evar seen! :) If it came from TLC you KNOW it's been done right! You keeping it all Toyota on the future diesel & 5 spd. swap? Remember to start up a build thread in the 55 section. We need more buildups :bounce2: Can't wait to see your progress........ Oh yeah, don't name it "Chuckwagon" ;p

Nice looking Iron Pig.

Tasteful pin striping seperating the two colors ("cheat line").

Seatbelts? A local army surplus store here has a bunch of black retractable seatbelts for $5 each. I'm going to drive out there with my FJ40 and see if they'll fit in back.

LOL, that's pretty funny I didn't even think about that!!

I'm starting to look for some seatbelts... that is a good idea too.

Not sure on the diesel engine choice yet, its going to be a ways down the road.

Coool, glad you decided to jump on it. Did you end up getting verfication of the engine work done on it? How about rust cover-ups?

Congrats, have fun. Awesome beach cruiser.

No, not sure who that is...

Pablo,

How do you like the 3FE in the piggy? I was thinking that if I didn't go diesel a 3FE and H55F would be pretty cool.
