I am thinking about ordering a disc brake kit for up front and also the rear.... I was looking at the ones from JD out fitters... has anyone used these....

Few questions...

1. When a guys put both discs on do I have to have a different boster???
2. what is the deal with the pro portioning valve that I see?

3. I want to get a new master because mine looks $hitty and if I am doing this I might as well do it all... but I need to get one that matches the booster correct?

jt's brakes

I used the jt outfitters kit on my 72 40. We did front and rear. When in the rear I went on and put in a lock right. The kit worked great and I like being able to go to any parts house and buy pads. The calipers are mid 80's monte carlo and rotors are mid 90's chevy 4wd truck milled out to 4.25". I'm running the stock booster and master with the check valve taken out of the back of the master. The jt kit explains this fairly well. All in all the kits were very good and complete. You can buy the brackets on ebay from joetlc. This is the same guy that runs jtoutfitters. Usually you can find the kits cheaper on his ebay store than ordering direct from jt. The brakes work great, I will eventually have to put a prop. valve on the rear because they will lock up first, thought I'd let the pads break in first....If you go this route let me know if you have any questions.

If you buy this without searching the archives and doing your own research you deserve what you get. But I guess that's what you are doing so more power to you. Two words: 79-85 mini truck

I just installed the jt kit on front. I'm very happy with it. It required some grinding on the axle flange so the new rotors fit, but it was pretty easy. I'm using my stock master. (early '75)

I did both ends as well... same Mcyl. and booster... removed mc valves and swapped line positions... very pleased.......

I wouldn't replace it based on looks, if it works leave it alone probably a lot more life left in it than you think. Disregard if you have a money tree in your back yard.
