Too far north. Too far east.
Ok, it's only October. Any thoughts on which weekend we want to do this? I think our choices are the weekends of Dec 1st, 8th, or 15th. I'm favoring Dec 8th. Yes, I miss that truck.

Jon,
Thanks for getting this started early this year. At the October meeting we decided to plan the specifics at the November meeting but I think it would be good to set the date earlier so everyone can make plans.

For those that are new to HDC, this will be our 7th Annual Christmas tree run. Here is the thread and trip report from last year. We typically have a good turn-out for this outing. Last year we had 10 trucks and I am pretty sure the picture that Jon posted above was the infamous trip when we "disco'ed" late into the night. We also had about 10 trucks on that trip.

It has been several years since we last did Paliza for the Christmas Tree run. It can be a challenging trail for stock vehicles when there is snow. It is always a beautiful trail as Jon's picture shows.

It can be challenging for stock rigs when there isn't any snow. My unlifted, long wheel base 60 caused major backups whever we encountered one of those big berms. I'd have to go really slow and high to keep from crunching a rocker panel. The only other problem I had was dragging the rear end in the first big dry creek crossing.

I believe that was the disco run. For the record, since I'm in the pic I didn't take it, and I don't know who did. Also, I doctored the link so it stands out more (hope you don't mind).

who had the white 55?

that was Tim Manes. he move to Oregon. great guy. he helped me make the cooler/spare tire rack on my 40.

Tim's FJ55 had a small block Cheby V8. The silver-colored FJ60 on the left of the picture was David & Ashleigh's and it also had a V8. I am pretty sure this trip was before Shawn blew his 2F engine. Juane still had his V8 60-series but he didn't make it on that particular trip.

all correct. those chrome rims are my old 6 lug ones, that are now sitting in my garage.
it seems none of the vehicles in that pic are the same or own by the same owners.:flipoff2: what a difference a couple years makes.

Except for Pierrette's FJ40. :D

Does anyone know what areas are open for cutting this year? Or is it a free-for-all like the past?

I seem to recall David L. saying it was a free-for-all. Are you going to come?

Are you going to come?
Oh, who knows. I thought a little tree for my bachelor pad might be nice. But then again the weekends are when I get to see my kids.

so who all plans to go? Lawrence's won't be at the meeting, but are planning on the run. We'll be in the 40 as neither troopy is ready to go. George Morgan may even bring one of his newest toys--a beautiful v8-40.
BTW, if anyone wants a beautiful 62, you should talk George into selling his.

We're out, but bummed about it. I failed to tell Danise when it was before she'd already committed to something else. Besides, my 'mechanic' still hasn't returned my 60. I don't feel like I can complain since he does all the work for free.

We are planning to make this run again this year but we won't be bringing back a tree.
