    Radiator overflow, overflowing

Not going to say its 100% fixed yet. Will give it a good 30 min highway drive in the morning, which should be a good test. But think I got it fixed. Pulled the old thermostat to replace with a 160*. Old one was in upside down! Replaced it and the sender. Got it filled back up with some...

    Radiator overflow, overflowing

Already got it in. With the bigger fan blade it was rubbing along one side of the shroud. Was able to oblong the bolt holes and slide the shroud over about 1/4" which cleared everything.

    Radiator overflow, overflowing

@peesalot , Just when I thought I was getting to the bottom of my overheating issues, you throw a wrench into the plans. The old fan was actually on with 3 bolts, I guess the PO thought the hole for the 4th was a spare. I did replace it with a correct one, and I used 4 bolts. I was curious...

    Radiator overflow, overflowing

I try to keep right at 3000rpm. Maybe up to 3200 for a bit but try to keep it at 3k. Not sure on the gearing. 1977, 4 speed. I know the engine and transmission were replaced at some point it the past so not original.

    Radiator overflow, overflowing

Just installed a correct sized fan/fan clutch so I don't think that is the issue. Going to try the 160* stat and new sending unit. Was also thinking of giving it a flush. When I was running the temp gun along the radiator, there would be a spot or two that would be 20-30* off the rest in...

Installing head rests on seats that did not have head rests - 1978

I sprayed my gray headrests with Dupli Color vinyl and fabric coating. Comes in flat or gloss black. I used gloss. Shinier than the black seats, somewhat due to age of the seats but the headrests are definitely black.

    Radiator overflow, overflowing

Finally got out tonight to get some temp readings. Not really sure what they are telling me. I did pick up a 160* stat and a new sending unit just in case. With the temp gauge sticking straight up, about center of the hash marks. Top of thermostat housing 183* Top header of the radiator...

Installing head rests on seats that did not have head rests - 1978

I was in the same situation as you. 1977, no headrests but felt like there were holes there. Took a chance and bought some headrests. Pushed down on the hole to find the center and put a small slice in with a utility knife. Headrest went right in. Did the same on the passenger seat. Not...

    Radiator overflow, overflowing

Just so I'm understanding the coolant system correctly. Coolant circulates through the engine until it reaches the thermostat temp (say 180*). Once the stat senses the coolant is at 180*, it opens and now flows the coolant through the radiator, which helps reduce or maintain the coolant temp...

    Radiator overflow, overflowing

Thanks all. Will try to run it a bit the next couple of days and take some temps with the gun. When in the engine, to add the fan/clutch, was also under the truck quite a bit, kept dropping the nuts to hold the fan on. Didn't see any coolant leaks so think all the hoses are tight and in good...

    Radiator overflow, overflowing

I did add coolant to the overflow a while back, about halfway between low and high fill lines. Have checked it a couple times since and it always seems to be at the same level I filled it to. Someone mentioned above to park it on a steep hill, pull off the cap and run it for a bit. Tried that...

    Radiator overflow, overflowing

Got the new blade/fan clutch installed. Thanks @65swb45. Took it out yesterday. Still having the same issue. Ran it for 2-3 min just to make sure the fan blade was running smoothly. It was. Took about a 25 min ride to a friends. After 15 min the engine temp gauge had climbed back up the...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Installed new Bilsteins. Three of the four old shocks are still compressed from when I took them off yesterday and compressed them. One took about 3 hrs to uncompress. Guess they were due.

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Should be able to get those horseshoe shaped shims from any commercial window installer. They still use them today.

Tips for cleaning original floor mat?

I wonder once clean, if a leather conditioner/rejuvenator would help with the brittleness?
