Hi! I’ve had the same problem for weeks. Also from the Netherlands. Finally installed a VPN and that works for now. That’s a crazy amount of bots! Hopefully you find a fix for this, until then a VPN is the solution.

It turned out to be a clogged catalytic converter. A local 4x4 mechanic gutted it and the power is back! When we are back home I will arrange a new cat. Thanks for the input!

Timing checked out. Years ago I advanced it to 4 degrees instead of the factory 3. It is still at 4 degrees. Later today we will check the compression and change the spark plugs.

A new ignition coil unfortunately didn’t fixed the problem. Will be checking the timing tomorrow. (It’s hard to find a timing light in France…) and trying to find someone to check the backpressure of the exhaust. Any more ideas?

No recent engine work done. Just a lot of suspension bushings.

The pinging occurs with both fuels. But not very often. The power loss is the main problem and we had to push the car hard a couple of times tot get on a hill, that’s when the pinging happend. Probably 3 times. In normal driving it’s not pinging, just weak. Valve clearance is a long time ago...

You mean the black plastic vents on the rear? If I recall correctly there is 1 nut on the inside. (behind the inside trim). The rest is secured with plastic trim clips. This can be removed without removing the sliding windows.

Thank you for this write up! Just did this today and it worked like a charm. The hardest part was to remove the heat glued hoses from the VSV. Eventually used a long small screwdriver to release the bond, after that I could wiggle the hoses off.

It’s back in the truck and all good! Still strange that I couldn’t trigger the solenoid with a 15A power supply. Ah well!

Allright, thanks everyone! As some of you have suggested, just test it with a battery and don't overthink it. I've had it tested at the local mechanic, just to be sure, and it works flawlessly. My battery charger probably wasn't strong enough. Now to get it back into the truck. Thanks again!
