Just under $2k (including the inner seals on the differential housing). It hurt…
If I had done it myself I think I would have saved about $1k in labor from what I can tell. The parts with shipping would have run me about ~$1k for the new OEM and Seals from what I can find. Had the dealer give...
Just had a set of new CVs installed at Lexus. When I checked for the tell tale sign of the yellow bands to make sure the CVS were OEM I found that there was only 1 yellow band on each. Pictures below, however I also got the box that both came in which appears to be OEM. Thoughts? Are these new...
Well… Thanks all - appreciate the insight, as always this community comes through… Unfortunately, I didn’t have time on my side and had to take it to the dealership. Both my front CVs had leaking boots (I knew this but wasn’t in a hurry as they were mild) and I also had a leaky seal at the Diff...
Didn't check the Diff level as a result of not having the additional crush washer to put it back together with the fill plug (maybe not a big deal but I just try not to do work unless I have a replacement for those parts).
There was a drip coming down from directly above the drain plug where...
I went to do a simple oil change yesterday, pulled the underbody guard and noticed what appears to be a leak at where the CV meets the Diff housing up front on the passenger side. I am guessing this is a seal on the Diff housing side and not the CV but am looking for the IH8MUD (aka. expert)...

I am about to start the heater T and hose replacement on my 2006 LX470. I pulled the radiator cab off just to take a quick look and found this portion of a rubber type gasket floating in the coolant. Has anyone ever seen this or does anyone have any idea where it may be from?
I ended up not doing anything because the amount of grease coming out is really minimal. I check it regularly to make sure the severity hasn’t increased. Eventually I will remove an replace but it’s not showing to be an issue as of now… the popping sound I had was actually from a different...
Definitely going to go the OEM route if I need to replace the CV - just trying to figure out if that is what is needed and how immediate is the need? Or maybe I misdiagnosed and am chasing the wrong fix?
In need of some advice/support from the community on what I think is a CV/FDS issue. In the last couple of days I started getting a popping/binding sound when I turn the wheel all the way to the right (pulling into a parking spot, turning the vehicle around, etc.). A little investigation on the...
