I can also see that it might be much easier to just make up two new platforms from some tubing. That way you can space the tubes better (or proper), put the hinges where you want them, and fix lights and straps on their proper positions right from the start.

We used ply again for the second build. It is 12mm birch ply from Davidson's Boards. VERY strong, and the Birch has a more even colour and a much finer grain than the marine ply.

Thank you! As you can see from earlier in this thread, this is our second attempt at building a setup. We only decided on this layout after camping in the vehicle for a long time, establishing exactly what we needed to take, how long we spend in the car itself, the manner in which we travel...

It took us almost a year to get this far, but thanks to lockdown, we finally finished the cabinets! I will only be able to make cushions and window treatments when we are “free” to shop for fabric etc. – AND when we have saved up some money again. There is nothing I would love to do more...
